Despite suffering a devastating loss in his octagon debut, Luis Ramos will get a second shot in the UFC.
The welterweight, who was defeated by Erick Silva (19-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC) in just 40 seconds at UFC 134, will now meet Matt Riddle (5-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) at UFC 141.
UFC officials announced the new booking earlier today.
Featuring a heavyweight headliner between former UFC champ Brock Lesnar and recent Strikeforce titleholder Alistair Overeem, UFC 141 takes place Friday, Dec. 30, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
The positioning of the Ramos vs. Riddle matchup on the evening's card was not revealed but will likely take place on the night's preliminary portion.
The loss to Silva snapped a three-fight win streak for Ramos. The 30-year-old Nova Uniao product has been stopped just twice in his career – both times via knockout.
Meanwhile, Riddle looks to snap a two-fight losing streak, the first such run of his career. Riddle, a rare fighter who has fought all of his professional contests in the octagon, was beaten by UFC newcomer Lance Benoist this past September but was rewarded with a "Fight of the Night" bonus following the UFC Fight Night 25 bout.
Riddle also dropped a decision to Sean Pierson at 2010's UFC 124 card.
