Nope. Tennis elbow also won’t save you if lost in a forest

You still need a diver knife in that situation. I didn't read all the background information.

That would be of help I’d guess.

You can use those to poke sharks and bears in the sensitive areas. Plus, baton wood chunks for fire, and do the little curly shavings for starting a fire. Just need a magnesium steel rod, and you can take the back of the knife to strike it with. And when you kill a mastadon for food, you can skin it and cut up the hams into beautiful steaks.

There’s definitely mastodons here but I’ll stick with a boar. If I can catch it. They’re so fast

Annual health check this morning.
Looking forward to my triglycerides and cholesterol levels. Usually spot on but since 45 have been up and down, as is usual when you get a bit of middle age spread.
It’s not a good thing though, so I’ve lost a few pounds this year and I reckon they will be a bit closer to normal.
Cholesterol is undergoing a very bro science rehabilitation but it’s nonsense.
High levels are not good and we should strive to keep them down through diet and exercise. It’s not always possible, but often it’s a fix.
Don’t want to take statins.

I have a few more months to go for mine. I'd love to have dropped in cholesterol and validate that the elevated levels were from before I returned to health and exercise. I wouldn't mind a bit more fun stuff in my diet routine.
Good luck!

If you’ve dropped a significant amount of weight through diet and exercise over an extended period rather than a crash diet, which I guess you have, I’ll be surprised if things aren’t looking a bit better in the blood work.
Some people though just have very high levels and can’t stop producing. In that case there’s conjecture about whether it’s a good thing to think about statins. Probably I would, but it would not be an easy decision coz I don’t like taking medicine. Especially not regularly.
I think I am pretty reactive. Even at 80kgs and over 6ft my levels are borderline high.
75kg and they drop dramatically. Gotta stay skinny really. Helps the tennis and MTB too.

Good to know. My levels weren't very high anyway so hopefully the old diet and exercise route is sufficient

Most people it’s quite reactive.
Post 45 is usually when it gets tricky. The body gets very strict with lifestyle mistakes and cholesterol usually rockets if you’re not living right. Often even if you do it edges upwards.
Def. very helpful to stay 15-25% body fat and avoid snacks imo.
Common sense hasn’t changed much even if YouTube might say different.

The triglycerides were way down. Very comfortably inside the rec limits. Cholesterol was down but still borderline, doc says no problem. Uric acid also borderline but no danger of gout I’m told.
Just a bit less beer will solve all easily. Currently at the clinic awaiting a prostate cancer blood test. Wait is ten minutes. No reservations necessary. This is also annual. Costs ¥2000 so many men skip it. Utter insanity. That’s $15.
Other tests like bowel, stomach, lung are all free so they resent the cost. So foolish.
All these tests are annual over 40. In UK they are every 5 years and then most people don’t bother. Probably due to waiting times I guess.
Here I wait 20 minutes.
So grateful for this incredible health service.
A family member in the UK just got diagnosed with prostate cancer so I’m very concerned about that. It’s a highly survivable form, but the treatment is not without side effects and you are bound to be worried walking around with a cancer diagnosis every day. I think they will treat him well and appropriately, just they need to get screening more regularly and as a matter of course. Finding out as a result of stuff going wrong is not the best way to do things. Five years between screenings is too long

Testicular cancer is the most common solid tumor in men aged 20 to 34, hitting during years usually considered the healthiest. It often starts quietly, showing up as a painless lump or swelling in one testicle. Many young men dismiss it as an injury or simply ignore it, which can delay diagnosis.
Although the disease can progress quickly and spread to lymph nodes or lungs, catching it early is life-saving. When detected in time, cure rates exceed 95 percent. The challenge is that young men often skip routine checkups and may feel embarrassed to discuss reproductive health issues, allowing the cancer to grow unnoticed for months.
Risk factors include undescended testicles, a family history of testicular cancer, and certain genetic conditions, but many cases occur in men with no obvious risk. The most effective defense is regular self-examination. Feeling for changes in size, shape, or texture of the testicles can catch the disease early, making treatment far simpler and more successful. Awareness and proactive monitoring are crucial to protect health during these critical years.
