A Carroll County father said he discovered a middle school fight club, mixing it up during school hours and on school grounds. Walter Guy said the fights were recorded and distributed on cell phones.
The videos are all 30 seconds long and the fights appeared to take place in between class changes and breaks.
Guy said he found several of videos on his son's cell phone. Guy said the videos were all shot in a Temple Middle School bathroom.
Guy said he discovered the videos after his son got in trouble for making a lewd gesture. The gesture was also recorded on a cell phone camera.
"I started seeing fights, filmed fights on his camera. I'm like that's at school," said Guy.
Guy said the videos shows organized fights involving students, while other students recorded the fights.
"There's not a fight on here [where anyone is] mad. They walk off and they leave, that's it," said Guy.
Students at Temple Middle School aren't allowed to have phones at school but Guy said the fights were recorded on phones and then sent to other students' phones.
"I don't know what to think about kids now. It's amazing. I never would have thought to fight just to be fighting," said Guy.
Guy said he showed the videos to school officials.
A school spokesperson said, "All I can say is that we are aware of the situation. It's being handled as a disciplinary action."
Guy said there should be more supervision at school.
"How do you go back to class and a teacher doesn't know your face is beat up?" asked Guy.
The Carroll County father said since he discovered the videos, he's changed the way his son can use a cell phone. "Since this occurred, my son's phone no longer will do multimedia. Now the only thing he can do is text words," Guy said.
