How far away are we from having an all MMA channel? I mean there is a golf channel and a tennis channel and I have never even met anyone who plays Tennis in my life. Who is watching that channel? I mean it could be like NFL network with current news and old fights. I would also like to see Junkie Radio on that channel every day ala Mike and Mike on ESPN 2. Anybody think that an all MMA channel could ever happen?

I think HD Net should make an HD NET fight channel with all the organizations that are broadcasted..also Inside MMA with Bas Rutten and Kenny..HDNet is doing it right i think

I think we are pretty far away from having a whole channel dedicated to MMA. Theres only so many big fights/shows ... Id be scared it would be filled with shows full of no name fighters putting on sub par performances.

I agree with most. HD Net does a really good job just wish it was available to more people and not just to people with HD. As for an MMA channel i think we are years away because MLB network just came out like 2 years ago and how long has baseball been around? But eventually i believe they will have one and it will be a very popular channel especially with all the fights that happen all year round.

This isn't Brazil...... Your comparing two markets with very different demands.

I'm saying there's enough content.
The problem is different brands not wanting to be shown through the same channel.

Sure theres tons of great fights..but they cant show them all in one day...after a while it would be full of garbage. Im not opposed to the idea...id love a MMA channel...I just dont think they could keep it filled with content worth watching. What would make it work is if it was host to Live events and whatnot..but like you said...none of the orgs are gonna be down for that.

Would love this, but I think the licensing rights organizations would charge for their old footage (much less live events) would make this EXTREMELY cost-prohibitive. That said, I'm sure as hell down.

It'd be a great showcase for minor-league and foreign fights, not to mention original programming.

any 24hr network better sign up mmajunkie radio. we could go 4 hrs a day, if you mix in a few commercials and i just line up a few more interviews. as it is, we go 2.5-3 everyday. 4 hrs is 1/6 of their programming. even if they show us twice a day, once live and once at midnight or some sh*t, you're now only needing 16 more hours to fill.

I think it would be something all of us hardcores would be watching all the time. With all the fighting camps accross the world, just doing specials visiting those gyms would be great....kind of like TapouT did when they would go pick up one of their sponsored fighters.

is the Fight Network only available in Canada? If so I don't know if we can judge the success or failure of an MMA Channel based solely on the fight networks track record. maybe an MMA Channel would fail but like I said look at the ratings Tennis gets and they have a whole channel.
Why wouldn't Zuffa contribute some content to this kind of channel?
Hypothetical MMA Channel Lineup-All Times are in EASTERN STANDARD
7am-8am WEC Wakeup (A Wec Highlight show)
8am-9am The Ring Boxing Report brought to you by Ring Magazine
9am-11am The Previous Days MMA Live/MMA Sportcenter/ type news show. You know a show with anchors and news and features stories
11am-12pm UFC Unleashed (type show- highlights)
12pm-4pm MMA Junkie Radio Show live like Mike and Mike (no cussing though)
4pm-5pm Cageside A one hour long in depth interviews with the Legends of the sport mixed in with highlights from their careers.
5pm-6pm A Daily MMA Live/ MMA Sportcenter/type news show.
6pm-7pm Best of Pride (type show- higlights)
7pm-8pm Fight camp Show -(that goes to fight camps and interviews trainers, and up and coming fighters)
8pm-9pm MMA World- Fight news and stories from Japan, Europe, Australia, etc.
10pm-12am MMA Nation- Highlight packages from Smaller Orgs or Live events from smaller orgs, reports on Sharkfights, Strikeforce, etc.
12am-1am Ring card girls of MMA and Boxing
1am-2am Bully Beatdown reruns
2am-3am K-1 Hour
Infomercials for Girls Gone Wild and p90x from 3am-7am
They could have some of the same shows over and over like MTV...I would watch.

if someone would just start it zuffa would take it over and it would happen.
Zuffa just needs a bump start, they already own most of the footage.

I don't think Zuffa would be interested as it may eliminate revenue streams for them.... This idea while great for the fans would take money away from theings like the UFC Vault and any dvd sales they make if the shows old fights. Insight in to camps and training techniques would be great, but we had a Fight Network here in the UK and it didn't really have enough content to keep it viable and it eventually failed. The problem maybe the investment required for it, and that Zuffa may not be interested and now HDnet has a lot of rights (DREAM, Sengoku, KOTC, etc...) unless they are at the forefront of any push the content would be severely lacking.
If larger promotions got on board it could be good for the smaller ones however... The viewers who watch the larger fights/popular programming would then become aware of the smaller promotions being shown and could take an interest, like suggested you could almost have a new card shown everyweek from some of the regional promotions and it would be great exposure for them and the fighters... but sadly we do not live in an ideal world.
