Sorry but Shinya Aoki has 2 wins by gogoplata. One from mount position.

As near as I can tell, Aoki has four submission "firsts":
- First win by gogoplata from the guard
- First win by flying triangle
- First win by wakigatame (the standing arm lock he used to break Wisniewski's arm)
- First win by gogoplata from the mount
Does that qualify him as "most original" submission fighter, at least in terms of ring victories?

I doubt he was the first to do this
- First win by flying triangle

Rumina Sato did one in 1995 (Flying Reverse Triangle Choke)

Highly likely
- First win by gogoplata from the mount

The wikipedia entry for "gogoplata" says that he was the first, but it doesn't give a reference. Your skepticism encouraged me to look further and I found an article that references this fight Uemera v. unknown which was posted on YouTube 9 months before Aoki vs. Hansen:

I may have to edit the wikipedia entry. Good looking out Catellammarese!

Hardonk is the man. I love that guy. I'm not sure why but he's always been one of my favs at HW.

Diego Sanchez definitely doesn't have the longest undefeated streak. Miguel Torres went 19-0 before his first and only loss. Theres another Featherweight that I know of (the name escapes me, but he moved up to LW and had a one-hitter-quitter in the UFC) that went 18-0.
