Seeing Mike Tyson on TUF last night got me wondering. What if Mike Tyson signed up to fight James Toney in the Octagon? I'm I don't care if you all think I'm gay are start giving me s--- for even conjuring up this Freak Fight. This fight gets me excited. It would be the first time two boxing legends stepped in a cage to fight eachother that I know of. I've heard rumors that Mike has been training in MMA in the past couple years and even planned to start his MMA career. I don't know what sidelined that, but there are stories that Mike grew up fighting in the streets and never lost a street fight.

i would buy that ppv. the one fight where two boxers would actually deserve a 7 figure paycheck. i think tyson would try and take toney down haha. im probably wrong but after seeing him on TUF he just seems to like and respect mma and wouldn't come in trying to just box

I would give it to Tyson, just because Toneys patented shoulder roll doesn't really work well against hooks, and Tyson throws vicious hooks. That's assuming they would keep it standing. Tyson might learn some vicious GnP.

Tyson would take it to the ground with the hopes that a dominant but rounded win would get him a second fight.
Mike Tyson once said, "Everyone has a plan until they get hit", or something like that. So define MMA fight. They're not going to start going for takedowns and looking for submissions, they would do both use their choice of martial arts, which it will be boxing. So it comes down to, whose the better boxer today? Hmm...I would give it to Toney. Tyson doesn't have the heart for this sort of things anymore. His character is gone. Toney still has character.

I thought about this too seeing tyson on TUF.
A couple years ago Tyson was pretty out of shape and even fat looking... He looks like he's in great shape right now though. I think he'd take Toney.
Problem is... what do you pay these guys? They could probably do it in the boxing world and make millions but to pay them that sorta money in the ufc is almost an insult to all of the hard working fighters already established in the ufc.

This fight would be great fun to watch. I'd personally have Tyson. But that is a great point about paydays. There's no chance this could be done on a normal salary. Nor would it be even close to fair to pay these guys millions more than any other MMA fighter. If Mike Tyson is truly a big MMA fan, I think he would take the massive pay cut (which is still a great deal of money to us and other fighters), but I don't see Toney doing that.

Do you think they can get millions in sponors? Same sponsors they use in boxing maybe? I don't know. Still, it probably wouldn't be in the millions. Tyson is great. I saw his documentary, it was honest. He seems to be used to high salaries. I don't see him getting motivated into doing somethings like this unless he was guaranteed a million at the last.
I'm not saying I'm picking Toney because of that terrible fight with Couture btw. I just think he's being more active than Tyson. Tyson was the best when he was hungry. When the belt meant something to him. He had pride in what he did. But we all saw what happened at the end of his career. He lost the will to fight. I just think Toney still has that will to fight more. Who would be more motivated into winning? Is Toney doing it for pride? The man has an ego. How about Tyson. Would he doing it more for the money, or to prove that he's still a contender?
