obviously this is or would be light years from happening at best because of contracts and other things but the idea of it is cool imo like for instance ufc trades jon fitch and josh koscheck with strikeforce for overreem or just with the smaller companies. what trade or trades would you like to see?

Wow these are horrendous....Fitch/Hamill for Alvarez!?!?! Let me know when Alvarez fights an Edgar, Maynard, Penn, Florian, Guida, Guillard etc...and then we can talk about giving up those proven guys for him (21 UFC wins between them and I didn't even consider Stevenson).
Mir AND Lauzon AND Tito for Overeem??? yikes...where do you buy your weed? Tito/Mir are STILL draws (and Mir is still relevant in the HW title hunt), and Lauzon is still an up and coming LW.
While I want Overeem in the UFC as well I don't see why you'd give up anybody for a guy who hasn't fought a contender in 3-4 years. Did you already forget that Fedor did the EXACT SAME THING and found out the hard way that it's not the best decision for your career. I have this weird feeling that we're going to be somewhat disappointed at first if/when Overeem comes over.

I disagree....I like the deals. Show me Fitch's promotional upside....and Hamill? One bad loss like the Franklin or Jones fight and he is irrelivant. Alvarez has a ton of buzz and everyone wants to see him face a top level guy like you mentioned. UFC could probably make more money on Alvarez than both Fitch and Hamill together....
Mir, Lauzon, and Tito for Overeem....IN A SECOND! Tito is one loss away from being dropped, and Mir is at a point where they have to match him up with somewhat favorable fights or he gets malled by Brock, Shane, Cain, or JDS, plus some other up and comers. Lauzon is fun but even he is undercard status.
These trades in my opinion are largely based on promotional upside for both organizations...and the UFC would gladly give up 3 guys for 1 block buster as they are trying to shorten their roster anyway....and the smaller shows need more good, known guys.

Strikeforce gives up Gus Johnson and $1,000,000 for John Morgan that way they get someone who knows their MMA and Gus Johnson can then fetch Goze and GG koolaid and muffins while he gets an education in MMA.

I don't know why I was so hard on Murf, looking back at this post I feel a bit differently on it. I was high and felt all UFC proud or something.

Phish, you nailed it my friend. Indeed i was thinking about the promotional upside for both organizations when I drafted up this imaginary "trade" scenario. And I couldn't have explained my reasoning better myself. Good job as always good sir.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Honestly, Gus should play to his strength and stick with basketball. Then again, it's not Strikeforce, it's Showtime that put Gus Johnson there from what I understand. Does he happen to work for the parent company of CBS or something?
