i would not be impressed if either guy beat the other.im still a fan of both but i think theyre still atleast 2 fights away to be a serious contender after this win

The only title run Hughes will have again is if GSP hires him for security and some insane fan steals the belt and Matt has to run after it. Matt had his time, but he just never progressed with the sport. Hes a solid upper mid level fighter at this point but thats about it.
I think Matt takes this fight, that may be a slight stretch on my part, but not a real big one imo. I know Matt is past his prime, but in the last 9 years he's only lost to GSP/Penn/Alves and the Penn loss was 6 years ago. He's still pretty legit until he proves otherwise.

If you want to make him sound better, you could say he hasn't lost a fight in over 2 years. But, he should have lost to Serra. That was a bad decision IMO. And also, the dude only fights like once a year now, this year is the only time he's fought more than once since 2007, and he only fought 2 times that year. He has shown his age in his recent fights. Starting back to the 3rd GSP fight, that's when you could really tell that he was no where near the fighter he used to be.

Finally, someone that gets it. There's no shame in losing to GSP, and of course we all know that Alves was 6 pounds over the WW limit.
If Hughes wins this fight, he is right in line for the title. Probably will have to fight Fitch next.

Well I didn't think that was a bad decision, it was close, but the right call imo. And I'm not trying to say he's still the same fighter he used to be, he is past his prime, i'm just saying the guy has only ever lost to elite competition. I think his fight with Almeida will just be him using his wrestling to nullify Almeida's BJJ. I think people will say its full of lay and pray and whatever else, but thats just how I see this fight going
