Alright, sooooooo... haven't updated this in a hot minute.
Had surgery at SLU in St. Louis in April. I did 10 days of radiation and then started palliative chemo at $24,500 (retail). I think I'm on my 4th 30 day cycle of that. Due to the nausea, I take 2 different meds for that at various times (though not constant, thankfully).
Aside from those and my doctor prescribed meth (adderall) I also take:
Lenvima/Levantinib (chemo 24 mg in 3 pills)
Levothyroxine (lack of a thyroid means I have to take synthetic hormones)
Iron (anemia)
Vitamin C (helps the iron uptake)
Vitamin B6 (trying to combat chemo induced neuropathy)
Calcitriol (my calcium is low, which helps with the bodies electrical signals)
I've changed up a little on how i'm taking some of these. For example - one of the anti nausea meds is also an anti-psychotic AND it has a heavy drowsiness component to it to where people get reliant on it. So, I'm trying to take them every other day. That particular med plus the chemo means I get a monthly EKG to check my Long QT score to make sure I'm not at risk for heart issues.
So, on a given day, if I take EVERYTHING I'm supposed to, I'm taking 15 pills. 1 levothyroxine, 3 chemo pills, Iron, Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 (x3), Calcitriol (x2).
We're doing okay, but money is tight. I'm still working 60ish hours a week. But I'm getting some rolls in!

Hey, I'm trying!
I will say (and I didn't say in my post cuz trying to cover a lot), numbers are trending to the POSITIVE.
My thyroglobulin, which is a marker they watch, as reduced significantly. Like high in the mid 120s and it's now a 16. And then the lung nodules are also showing reduction in size. One went from 1.8 cm to 1.4. And my favorite - the long qt that they are watching. Typically it increases, right? Duh, that's why they watch it. Not my body. My body is all "hold my beer" cuz my s--- decreased".
But now i have 2x $11,000 tattoos on my hips.

I'll be honest, I'm not really sure on what the numbers mean, but "trending to the positive" is all that matters.
So f--- yeah man, keep fighting and beat cancers b---- *** down.

Like anything, some days are better than others. I've been a little stressy depressy for coming up on about 2 yrs now. Trying to alleviate that and navigate my marriage whilst helping my wife with her own depression and anxiety. PLUS trying to be better at that, as well.
Really, we probably just need a week away from it all, but the funds just ain't there at the moment. Always wanted to take her to NYC. I got to go a few years ago with work, though I was only there for about 2 hrs in the middle of the winter in the evening, but was still cool. So, working on some funds for that.

also, if you guys want a funny story... if you scroll up and look at the picture above, there's the 3 eye alien... it's covering what you think it's covering; don't worry, there is NOTHING impressive here.
Anyways... when i took the pic, I didn't look that closely. Get in the car with my wife and I'm checking it out... and I look... show my wife... "hey, honey... is that my... is that my balls???"
Yes, yes it was. "do you think anyone will notice? Nah. I'll just send it."
So, I sent it to to a few people, one of them being a coworker at the dispo I PT at.
See his GF the next week. "DID HE SHOW YOU MY HIP?' Yes. And I saw your balls.
s---.

Just got out of HemOnc.
Things still trending aces.
Apparently I'm some kind of stud, cuz I am doing way better than I should apparently. I'm still training, though I'm just going to my buddies' house 1 day a week rn since my place closed. But Doc said that she knows people on half the dose i'm on that can barely function.
Got my appts moved from 1 month to 6 weeks. If I get 2 good EKGs, I can go to 8 weeks.
Otherwise, we just keep truckin'.

overall, things still going well, except I was down 10 lbs at my last appt. Wouldn't be bad, except I've been 150 lbs for a hot minute, so that put me at 140. I thought I was eating enough to at least maintain, but apparently I was not.
So, I got another med to help me sleep and stimulate my appetite. Seems to be working; definitely been eating more.

Glad to hear you're still fighting the good fight Bob!
Keep it up, and like ABB suggested, if you haven't maybe try the devil's lettuce.

well, it's been quite the time.
The short and sweet of it is that I had a seizure at home at 5 am at the end of March.
We are not 100% sure of the culprit yet, though the most likely a combination of the chemo meds, blood pressure, and weight loss, but it was something like a 0.03% chance of occurring.
I saw my Oncologist yesterday. Current plan is more or less get into a doctor or doctors to see about getting me cleared for work; I sell insurance, so there are potential liability issues. Downside to that is the timeline my boss is operating on vs how fast they can get me in. But, due to E&O, etc, I understand his reasons; I just don't know what else I can say, but my coworker seems to think I should have more to say.
Can't drive for 6 months. They are telling me to stay away from bjj, etc just in case there is an unsafe change in blood pressure that could lead to another seizure or stroke, etc.
Not sure what I can do to move forward from here, especially if I can't do BJJ any more. But that literally shuts off a lot of ideas for me, in terms of earning money.
Trying to decide on that part is the hardest of it all.
