Not a retarded thread at all...
That is curious. Of course, I think it's because of the lack of an athletic commission in the UAE.
The fight shouldn't have even gone to a decision... obviously anderson should have finished it early on and not played around. But when Maia came out in the final round w\ his eye completely closed... should have been stopped. That would have been stopped anywhere in the states once somebody saw his eye like that. The fight would have been called via dr stoppage at the beginning of round 5 anywhere in the US.

agree 100%. I'm not claiming anderson is doing anything illegal but the fact that no one questioned the tape, or lack thereof, before he stepped in the octagon makes me wonder about the legitimacy of the commission, doctors, and refs. Someone should of noticed and checked why he wasn't taped.
Imagine if Maia came out and said that the punches felt harder than normal. Then other fighters came out stating that they had heard he used illegal wraps or what not. This could turn out to another grease gate. I had never heard anyone say anything about GSP greasing then all of a sudden there were like four fighters claiming they thought he did.
This is something that could really hurt the sport. I mean this just happened in boxing with the illegal wraps.
Before people start flaming me, I'm not saying he did or that I even think he might of used illegal wraps. Just saying that a slight oversight could turn into a huge problem when it gets blown out of proportion.
