Ya know, all this modern technology on the gloves, all the evolution of this sport and the UFC still can’t design gloves that don’t stick their damn fingers out. Pride did it, it was almost impossible to stick your fingers out for eye pokes there back in the day. Why can’t the UFC do it in 2024? Boggles my mind.

Nah man. Pride gloves were naturally curved so you can’t have an open fist. You could still grapple but hard to eye poke someone cuz there’s resistance to open the hand, whereas the UFC has a little resistance the other way to close the fist. I have MMA sparring gloves that are very similar to the Pride gloves. Trevor Whitman made something very similar but the UFC didn’t make a deal with him to use the gloves for whatever reason. Joe and a lot of fighters swear that Trevor’s gloves are excellent. He could easily solve the problem of eye pokes if the UFC weren’t so damn stubborn on the issue.
