New UFC 303 main event.

Rarely a fan of a headliner thrown together 2 weeks before a fight. Jiri already got smoked by him.
Obviously they didn't intend for it to play out this way, just sucks to see the McGregor return punted even further down the round.
It's a consolation prize on a card that was already fairly weak because like any McGregor card, it doesn't need much of a supporting cast to sell.
It sounds like some other supporting fights are being thrown together to make up the difference.

Whilst I agree fights thrown together short notice are not usually the greatest, I was expecting a lot worse than this fight to be announced.
If the first fight was completely uncompetitive I would have been a little less interested, but Jiri still had big moments in that fight for as little as it lasted. Round 1 he had top control of Alex and was looking pretty dominant from that position. Some also argued the stoppage was a little early. (Personally I thought it was fine)
Like you have mentioned I've heard they are trying to throw some extra fights together to strengthen the card, hopefully they add some good fights, and I'll likely be even more content with the card than before.

I can certainly see this happening. It's Pereira after all. Personally I think Prochazka makes the adjustments needed to take the fight into the later rounds this time.
Unsure on winner. If I had to pick I'd probably still pick Alex, its hard to pick against him..... I just really do enjoy watching Jiri fight.

Not gonna lie. I have a deep streak of casual and I wanted to see the other fight.
It’s an unknown too. Rematches don’t float my boat in general.

That really would be spectacular! Alex is such a dynamic striker I'd still pick him over Jiri if I had to. The leg kicks from Poatan will be a big factor.
Anyway some more fights have been added to the card......
Big step up in competition for Lopes, has never lost by submission either, very interested in this fight.

Jiri has cut enough through enough softwood saplings with his sword this time. Jiri by flying back knee KO.

I'm talking out my *** about the main, but I do think Alexa gets the KO by way of shopping list.
I think Ortega will demolish Lopes.

I dunno, I'm kind of over McGregor now. I do admit his fights are usually entertaining, but his presence usually effects the strength of the rest of the card. With the 3 year layoff I am intrigued as to what level he is at, but if the fight never happened I wouldn't be upset about it.

I'm more confident Alex beats Jiri again than I am on Ortega beating Lopes. Would also be nice to see some fresh faces in the top 5 at featherweight, so kind of hoping for a Lopes win with that one.

Would be a big fight for the UK, and if MVP KO's Leon then Crete going to be one happy man.
Edit: also, I don't think what's his name? beats Leon. So that fight could be very real possibility.

I do too.
I’m disappointed he never got the championship mentality earlier, but also disappointed in fans for not seeing how great he would’ve been in his prime and just writing him off as a can crusher.
I never thought he was the absolute best, but top 5-10 definitely with potential to win a title.
