So, I was having this conversation with a buddy of mine a few weeks ago & he brought up an interesting point. He said, "God, how long has the UFC been using this intro song?" What he's referring to is the theme "Face the Pain" by Stemm. As far back as i can remember i've always remembered them using that theme song. After doing some digging i found out that Stemm wrote the UFC theme and has been used since 2002.
My question: Is it time for a different theme? If so, who (which band) would you select? And do you think Strikeforce will now have a "theme" now that they're under the Zuffa umbrella?
I feel like they should change the theme if people are actually tired of hearing it...but it still gets me pumped before every card so I think it should stay

It's about branding/brand recognition.
It would be like Law & Order changing their theme.

True, but the NBA changes their theme song during the playoffs every season.
Its great brand continuity to keep the same theme... like Jonny Rico said, everytime I hear that theme it gets me pumped because the fights are right around the corner.
It's like the MMA version of the Sportscenter "da da da, da da da" theme.
Now, I suppose that ANY theme to which you are exposed for almost 10 straight years will eventually become familiar and trigger a certain response (Pavlovs dogs, anybody ???? hahaha), but since there isnt anything wrong with the theme, I think it should stay.
BTW, Stemm guys are good dudes and great fight fans, for whatever thats worth.
I hate the theme song.
Doesn't get me fired up at all, aside from a small Pavlov's dog effect. It reminds me of three 15 year olds playing with M80s in 1995.
I'd rather hear something epic.

Yeah but MMA doesnt have playoffs haha
the worst is the gladiator intro to the PPVs. It is embarrassing. If I have people over that have never watched MMA, I try to make sure they don't see that.
My roommate and I mock the TUF theme every week. BOOM youre gonna get hit! lol

+10 points for the psychology reference on a MMA board.
I don't mind the theme so much, but the stupid gladiator introduction with the guy putting on the armor can go.

Embarrassing is exactly what it is. It honestly looks like they're marketing to teenagers between the song and the visual.
For those of you that have been living under a rock for the past 10yrs, or just need a quick pick me up....

The song and the gladiator intro are both terrible. The song isn't even a good song to begin with, and then the gladiator scene is just so cheesy.
Not sure how they could work it, but I would love to see the Baba O'Riley intro they use at live events for the TV broadcasts as well.
A few years back I got into that UFC xbox game. This song constantly played. When you changed loading screens, the song would restart. I f---ing hate that song.
The theme is good but they could update the intro with the gladiator. Have ya'll noticed the new little bio thing that they do before the main event on PPV's. I think that s--- is dope!

Yeah, the theme song was cack to begin with and the gladiator is just an embarrasment. I'd rather they had something epic too, like they have in the trailers for Couture vs Machida promos for example.
i wish UFC even came close to pride when it comes to maing posters, certain vids and anything almost of that nature
i want some f---ing epic intros damnit!
