Hey Jawbone, they are building a very exquisite community bordering my hunting area on Lake Okeechobee, exclusively for Hesitic Jews. What a beautiful place it is. It's an entire community for only Jewish people, and specifically for only the truly Pharisitic Jews. I don't think it's the Sadducess.

It could be the other way around, I'm not sure. They are the Yiddish ones that have the long curly locks, and wear a box on their heads.

I welcome them, but it's a little bit sad that they developed some nice ranch land that was natural and could have stayed that way.

The place they developed is by one of my duck hunting areas. I don't know if that will be destroyed or not.

I'm a conservationist. Even though I work in construction and actively participate in development.

What are your thoughts about these Jews who make exclusive developments catered to their own? The signs leading into the place are in Hebrew. It's a very nice looking community. I would rather these communities be developed rather than Muslim ones. That's just my personal preference (which is a well-formed opinion).

I am not a fan of certain Haredi groups. They are insular to a toxic level and wouldn't even consider me or my wife to be Jewish because we don't subscribe to their flavor of Judaism (which was invented in the 1800s mind you. We weren't doing half the stuff Haredis do during the BC years). Chabad is the only Haredi group that is welcoming and friendly to outsiders. Satmars are on the extreme end and I find them very unpleasant.

I'm friendly to all people in person. My pastor came from a church that was Jewish but accepting that Christ is the messiah.

We do a lot of the liturgy from Jewish synagogue, especially from the Psalms. My pastor even chants some stuff in Hebrew.

We're connected. Just read Isaiah 53. Many Jews disregard Isaiah because it points predominantly as Jesus being the savior, and messiah. Which I believe he is. But I love how the old testament and new testament are connected. Being a Christian, I believe all of the old testament, including the Torah, Talmud, Tanach all point to Jesus as the savior. I don't know how it can be avoided.

Jesus was a Jew. So were all the Apostles. I think that I am part of the descendants of Abraham and part of the promise. I'm an Israelite.

I'm also a Lutheran. That's my background. LCMS to be exact, because not all Lutherans are the same.

I am not the best to speak on religious texts and whatnot, more so able to speak about history. Chabad and Satmar are two opposite sides of the Haredi sects (the ones that grow sideburns, wear felt hats, women shave their heads and wear wigs, so on). Satmars act like communities of medieval monks where the men slave over the Talmud and ancient texts and have eight children and ignore them while their wives are expected to raise the eight children and simultaneously have a vocation within the community to earn money. Or they just grift their local government for free money. They do this in America. They do this in Israel. They'd do this on fucking Mars if they could. Their children grow up learning nothing outside the Talmud, unless they are selected to learn sums to work in one of the few jobs the men would do, like being a butcher. If someone tries to leave the community, they are completely shunned, like how the Jehovah's Witnesses do. Most Jews that are religious have a rabbi they can see, and that rabbi sees maybe a hundred or so congregates and can actually interact with them. Satmars have a single religious leader in their entire community that they borderline worship like a deity, whom they almost never speak to. The thing I hate most about Satmars is how dim and soulless they make life. Like the Savonarola Christian types that emerged in reaction to the medieval papacy being corrupt.

Chabad requires that their followers accept every Jew regardless of what level of Jewishness they follow, to feed them if need, lend an ear if needed, provide blessings if needed. If you ever see Haredi Jews on a street corners stopping people to ask if they are Jewish, those are Chabadniks. A gentile can walk into a Chabad center and would be welcomed with open arms as long as they are not hostile or threatening someone. Chabad is heavily influenced by Hillel the Elder. This was the Jewish religious figure from the BC years that taught the man that taught Jesus. A story goes that a Greek from Egypt approached Hillel and told him he would convert to Judaism on the spot if he can explain the Torah to him in the time the Greek can stand on one leg. Without missing a beat, Hillel replied "Do not do unto your neighbor what is harmful to you. The rest is commentary."

Thanks for that response. I have two points of interest that stand out to me:

First, the entire point of the New Testament was to point out that the Jews lost focus on God, and made their own rules that were not of God. In the synoptic Gospels, Mathew, Mark and Luke, it is detailed how Jesus rebuked the rules set by the Pharisess and Sadjucees, because they made rules that are NOT from God, but from the actuall church that was supposed to represent God. It was not demanded by Moses and the prophets, but by representatives of the church who made their own rules since they were in power. Much the same as the Catholic Church does today in the Christian realm. The Pope does not have scriptural authority that binds people outside of the word of God, which is the Bible.

The second point is that the current state of Isreal is NOT the new Jerusalem set forth by the book of Revelation. I'm of the Amellenial mindset, that the end times cannot be predicted. There's no secret formula that will let us know when earth is going to end. The books about Rapture and Left Behind are not part of scripture. God tells us clearly that the end times cannot be predicted--not only by Jesus but only the Father himself. Anyone saying that they know that the end is coming is being deceived. From the book of Revelation, the guy with 10 horns and such is not Putin. and the north is NOT Russia, the east Iran, and so forth. God specifially tells us that these things are not to be known. So, if in the Bible, God tells us that these things are NOT to be known: why do people constantly make predictions about when the end will take place? It's not known.

The best way to handle this is like Lutherans do. We DON"T know when the end will happen. We're in the end times now. Be prepared, God will figure out the rest.

Is it that much different than people on the internet screaming that the Mayan calendar indicates when the world ends, or that rising sea levels will end the human race, or AI will skynet us?

The world has gotten a lot more secular, and yet doomsday reeing is still at the same level.

Idiots want to feel like they are living in the end times to add color to their lives. Often with a pinch of smugness.
 
It is a little bit different, because the things you referenced are secular. Those people don't know anything about the truth in the Bible.

But I agree with your contention. And the word you used "smugness."

You and I are both politically conservative, which helps our meshing of understanding.
