When i look at Nick i think no way, but when i look at him i think 160lbs is no way and he made that for the Gomi fight. Perhaps he could cut that 5 extra lbs if he dedicated himself to it. I think he would be an absolute FORCE at 155lbs
IF
he could make the cut. It may sound crazy but i see tons of fighters make cuts i dont think are possible. I thought Nate Martquardt was a big 185 and now i hear hes cutting to 170...i would have never thought that was possible. Ive learned never rule a weight cut out especially if theyve fought within 5 lbs before. Do you guys think he could possibly make the cut and if so how do you think he would do?

I don't want to see him fighting lower than 170.
He's doing great at 170 and I don't want to see him cutting weight to the point where it will have a poor effect on his performance.

The first time he fought KJ Noons was at 160 so he might be able to cut down to 155, although he looks a lot bigger now.

he has spent several years now at 170 and once your body gets use to that weight it is harder to cut.........not sure how hard it was before but now it would be more difficult.
add into the fact that just because you go down a weight-class it does not automatically give you an advantage and sometimes can hurt you.

He's said before he was half-dead @ 155.
In a perfect world, there would be weight cutting regulation so that weight cutting was a non issue. If guys weren't gassing out, there would for sure be better fights. I don't think fighters should be given the option to come into a fight dehydrated and what not. They should have to be at peak conditions at all time. I'm surprised commissions allow weight cutting to continue as it is right now.

i like the double weight cut some states do.........one 24 hours before the fight and one 12 hours before the fight and you cannot have gained more then like 10 pounds or something
i like the weight classes as is but i do feel people try to cut too much weight and it needs better regulation

He's just a gatekeeper at 55 or 70
I wish he'd go to MW because he's so confident he called out Silva

When your in the prime of your career its easier to put on weight than take it off. Hes put on muscle and is extremely fit. He does marathons and stuff, I think that 5 lbs would hurt him alot even thou he has cardio for days. I just dont think his strength would hold up in a full 5 round fight.

Why would he drop to lightweight? The UFC lightweight division is the most stacked. It takes ages before he get's a titleshot. In WW he is the only contender left for GSP.

I saw him close up in person a few days ago and trust me he is not a 155er. He looks skinny on TV because all other guys are built. But in real life he is a big guy, his forearms are really big, his fists are big, he has wide body. I also stood right beside Guillard and J Miller and trust me he is much bigger than them. He is also very tall.

Yes he is a force at welterweight but i was thinking about it this morning and if he went to the UFC there are tons of problems for him.
1st. he is NEVER going to beat GSP
2nd. hell never fight shields which just makes another fight we will never see because of the teammate thing
3rd. I think he doesnt matchup well with fitch or Kos
the only WW fighter i think he matches up well with is BJ Penn.
At Lightweight i think he can beat Maynard or Edgar...the lightweight division may be deeper than welterweight but the top of the welterweight division is much better than the top of the LW division. Im not saying he should do it, id love to see him fight some WWs first and id love to see a diego/nick coached TUF but i was just curious if you guys thought 155 was a possiblity
