GTFO! I would love to see this fight. If Bisping wanted to use his size I think he could, but I think he'll make it a fight. I would be hella entertained.
If
Nick Diaz
is really ready to come out of retirement for the right fight, veteran UFC middleweight
Michael Bisping
is willing to fight him. While it seems like an unlikely scenario, one pivotal figure has signed off on the possibility.
"I love that fight," UFC President Dana White today
tweeted
.
The chatter began after Diaz's teammate, UFC 166 main-card competitor
Gilbert Melendez
, recently said he expected the former Strikeforce champion would
end his current retirement
if a convincing offer came along. Melendez said it could be MMA or boxing or kickboxing.
When Bisping (24-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC), who's currently recovering from an
eye injury
, caught wind of the comments, he offered his services. As he
tweeted
: "Well if Diaz wants a fight at 185 I would happily welcome him to the division."
Diaz (26-9 MMA, 7-6 UFC), whose done most of work at welterweight, retired in the cage following a title loss to welterweight champion
Georges St-Pierre
in March. The bout came 13 months after a narrow decision loss to
Carlos Condit
for the interim belt. After that 2012 fight, the Nevada State Athletic Commission suspended Diaz for a year due to a second failed drug test (marijuana).
Few in the industry, though, have taken Diaz's retirement too seriously. However, though there was brief speculation about a new deal and though White recently offered him a fight with middleweight
Lyoto Machida
, Diaz has given no indication he's seriously contemplating a return to the cage.

This should be a five round main-event of a UFC on FOX sports 1 card. Fun fight, both have cardio for days.

The kind of stylistic match up that makes Diaz interesting to watch. I'm down.

This would be a smart fight to take for Diaz. He would get good press, the fight would be exciting, and he'd be fighting in a division with relatively few strong wrestlers by comparison to welterweight. It would be a great division for Diaz to fight in.
He won't though.

this would be an interesting contrast in MMA boxing styles. but I thought Bisping was going to be inactive for awhile 'till he fully heals up from his eye injury, so this fight wouldn't happen till maybe next year.

Oh no, fuk no please no. I already suffered when Diaz fought Daley, Penn and when Bisping fought Belfort. I hate it when my most fav fighters ever, fight each other. This would be pointless anyway IMO...

the trash talk for this fight will be epic, and the stare down holy s--- ! gonna need someone bigger than DW standing between them. I was the same when Shogun fought Sonnen, and will be the same when Cain fights JDS this Saturday. As long as the loser l gains stock is what I do hope for
e.g Oliveria Vs Edgar

The press conferences would be stuff of legend. We were kinda robbed of a build up between Bisping & Sonnen when they fought due to short notice. This would be a huge fight. Diaz & Bisping both put people in seats.

Bisping is to big for Diaz, he fought at 205 ffs, Diaz fought Gomi who is a 155er. I guess if Diaz wants a challenge Bisping is one for sure, but I see Bisping's gameplan like Condit did, points, points, points.

This would be the first time where someone will have better conditioning and a better gas tank than Bisping.

The fight would be amazing and Bisping would absolutely tear Diaz a new a--hole in the pre-fight hype.

I give Bisping the advantage both in the cage and on the mic. Bisping knows how to evolve, and Diaz doesn't. Bisping can speak in complete sentences, and Diaz makes about as much sense as an Ultimate Warrior promo.

If Diaz can goad Bisping into brawling with him, Diaz would be the tougher of the the two.

Bisping isn't going to get drawn into a brawl though, just not his style. Diaz doesn't have that one punch power either and I see Bisping taking him down and laying some good ground and pound down on him if he did get caught with some flush shots. Really fun fight though, would be great as a 5 rounder because odds are a finish isn't happening within 3 with these two guys but with 2 extra rounds one of them could possible wear down and finish the other. Would be a fun fight for sure.
