Nick Ring
(13-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) has been forced out of the UFC's return to Boston in August, and
Josh Samman
(10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) has stepped in to meet
Uriah Hall
(7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the card.
Sources with knowledge of the lineup change confirmed the news to
MMAjunkie.com
(
www.mmajunkie.com
), and UFC officials are expected to make the booking official for UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 soon.
UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 takes place Aug. 17 at TD Garden in Boston. The show will be the UFC's debut on the new FOX Sports 1 cable network, which launches the same day.
Samman and Hall were castmates on Season 17 of "The Ultimate Fighter" this past spring. And while each made it to the semifinals and were expected to meet at the TUF 17 Finale, only Hall reached the the finals.
Despite being upset in the semifinals by eventual winner
Kelvin Gastelum
, Samman was given a fight on the TUF 17 Finale and stopped
Kevin Casey
with a second-round TKO for a win in his official UFC debut. That ran the Florida-based 25-year-old's streak to two, with seven wins in his past eight official fights – with just a Bellator loss to
Dan Cramer
keeping him from perfection over that stretch. Nine of his 10 wins have come by stoppage.
Hall was a heavy favorite on "TUF 17," but in the tournament finals against Gastelum, he appeared off his game compared to some of the destructive finishes he had in the "TUF" house and Gastelum won a split decision. The former Ring of Combat fighter will be looking for his first official UFC victory.
Ring, who fought on "TUF 11," was looking to get back in the win column after a March split-decision loss to
Chris Camozzi
at UFC 158 in Montreal. That was his second setback in three fights.

i gained a little respect for samman after his loss to kelvin, but i think he gets starched here.
then again, uriah hall could just show up and think hes better than he is and lose again

This reminds me of the classic South Park war between a Giant Douche and a Turd Sandwich.

If the Hall that fought for the TUF finale shows up, Sammaan will get the W in this fight. This was the hype fight for the finale so glad we get to see it... Over all does not mean much.

Well it looks like DW gets his dream TUF final after all! Just a few months later than he planned

It was like it was meant to happen. Smart money's on Hall however Samman can knock him out, he showed on Tuf that he has big strikes, and if Uriah has a brain fart like he sometimes does and thinks that he really is the next Anderson Silva by stupidly or arrogantly dropping his hands like he does, then he will more than likely get slept.
Hall hates Josh though and will want to hurt him so my moneys on Hall by tko.

LoL, Who won that fight? By the way, who is Turd/Douche Bag?
Could be a fun fight though

It was an episode about the importance of voting... Even if you're voting on whether your school mascot should be a Turd Sandwich or a Giant Douche. I honestly can't remember who won, but I do remember that Stan's vote was the one to decide the winner.

After his last fight, I think Uriah is left with a lot to prove as I fighter. Mentally, the guy as some issues to work on. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable betting him or picking in a fight until he proves he's gotten it together.

Interesting fight, to my knowledge Samman has never been knocked out and Uriah only has one submission, that wasn't due to strikes, to his name so I'm curious as to who the bookies will favor.

I was more excited for the Ring matchup from a competitive POV. But as someone who wanted to see Uriah put the hurtin on Samman the way he wanted to in the house, I am slightly more excited for this fight
