Who's next in line for the winner of GSP vs. Kos??
I think Fitch has earned the title shot, despite his lack of fanfare, the guy just dominates opponets on the groud.
I think Matt Hughes proved his is still a top 5 fighter in the UFC, with his only recent losses to GSP, and an overweight Alves.
I'd like to see Hughes vs. Shields/Kampmann winner for a shot at the UFC champ in 2011.

Koscheck vs. Gsp isn't for a while.
If Shields finishes Kampmann, my guess is he will get the shot. If Condit finishes Hardy, he may very well jump pretty quick, but not title yet. And that's based more on good fights, then his record.
Hughes vs. Hallman seems like a potential move the UFC would do since both are coming off wins.
Fitch/Alves winner was for a title shot and the fact that the UFC has said nothing, says a lot. How do you sell that rematch to the average fan?
JDS/Nelson was for a title shot also and they didn't hesitate to give it to him.

Hughes vs the winner of Davis/Diaz would be interesting as well.

Haha as soon as I started thinking about it, I couldnt come up with a good answer. Fitch Vs Hughes for the number one contender, maybe the winner of shields kampmann or hardy condit. I think in order to answer more questions, a mix of those fights need to happen before anyone gets GSP or Kos. I dont like the Idea of Shields getting GSP that fast but maybe he could beat him, who knows.

I just don't think a win over Almeida is enough to give him one of those guys. The winner of Marcus Davis and Nate Diaz sounds good to me.

The dust has settled. Dana has spoken. At this point there is St. Pierre/Koscheck. Yes he said the winner of Fitch/Alves would get the shot, but this isn't the first time Dana has lied and it won't be the last. Dana wanted Alves to win, because St. Pierre/Avles II was easier to hype, despite his lay off. You call it a miraculous comeback. That didn't happen, so he took it back and looks to Shield/Kampmann hoping that his newest recuit does damage to a man who is arguably top ten and he can pull another St. Pierre/Hardy; with the hopes that his poster boy does what he does best. Fitch may end up facing Hughes to give him once last chance to shine or to solidify his number two prospect who can defeat the current Champ, but will need some hype behind him even if he should prevail.

I hope the UFC holds off on Hughes Hallman... I think that would be a great fight for Hughes to go out on, but he has too much left in the tank for that to happen right now...
If the UFC doesn't give Fitch the next shot, make Hughes vs. Fitch for a title shot.

So where exactly do you have Almeida ranked countryboy? Must be pretty high if Hughes is gonna springboard off him to a title shot fight.

Almeida is top 10 or close to it, but its not just the Almeida win, its wins over Penn, Lytle, Serra, and Gracie...
Keep in mind Hughes is one of only 2 men to beat GSP, the other was Serra, and then Hughes beat Serra too...
If Hughes beats a top 5 contender, then I feel he deserves a shot at the WW title... Give Hughes, Fitch, Kos, or Hardy.
A countryboy can survive!!!

Explain to me how Almeida is top 10? He's talented no doubt, but he hasn't collected enough heads for that status. You've got GSP, Koscheck, Fitch, Alves, Hughes (I guess this is where you would have him.), Shields, Kampmann, Hardy, Condit, Thiago. That's ten. Has Almeida beat any of these guys? Nope. Has Almeida even fought any of these guys (besides Hughes)? Nope. Does he own a win over a guy who's even stepped into the ring with any of these guys? Sure doesn't.

Other guys in the welterweight division that I would rank higher than Almeida in no particular order. Lylte, Serra, Pyle, Hathaway, Marcus Davis, Diaz, Swick.

Almeida beat Nate Marquart, and lost a close decision to Cote. He has some nice wins at WW... He may not be top 10, but he is at worst, just outside the top 10.

He beat Marquardt in 2003...and as I said before he doesn't own a win over anyone who has even stepped in the ring with a top ten guy.

Assuming GSP wins IMO Fitch deserves it. I mean how many times does the guy need to win before he gets his rematch? + Alves was the best guy he's faced since GSP and he won easily! Think of it this way, even if the Fitch GSP fight turns out like the last one, it will be plenty more entertaining than any of Fitches last few fights!

Fitch deserves his shot, no doubt about it

Fitch vs Hughes. Fitch needs at least another 10 fights to prove he is worthy of a title shot.

I know you're being sarcastic about Fitch, but why did you have to throw Hughes in there? Just gave countryboy ammunition.

If by extremely good you mean brutally beaten then you're right.
