That sucks. I think more info needs to be provided - e.g. how big was the cut?
This probably needs some more regulations to it but we have 60+ fighters from the UFC going just in this weekend and thousands per year. Safe to say none of them will die from it if you go off previous years.

In physics, there's (I think, I'm not a physician - but I read.. sometimes) a rule that says "if something has a 0.0000001% chance of happening, there's a 100% chance it will happen someday". Safe to say a UFC athlete will die from cutting weight in the future, if you ask me. At least, if they keep it as it is.

Hence the regulations comment. I'm just pointing out it hasn't happened and other factors are probably at play in this case. I don't mean to sound insensitive.

That's some sad s---. Hopefully something good can come out of this. I wish the best for his family.
I thought they might cancel the event, but I guess the show must go on in his honor. I think a fighter would want the show to continue.

Sad.
I've been beating this drum for awhile now, but I'll say it again, fighters need a fat test while hydrated. Based on a minimum fat percentage, maybe 5-7%, a lowest fight weight should be calculated. Might not have helped Bing, but something has to be done. Other thing could be have a weigh-in 2 days out where they have to be maybe 5% away from the weightclass.

There have been nearly 0 deaths in the NFL, but many in high school football. You don't get to the NFL before you've had time to physically acclimatize.
I don't think his age is a coincidence. The few 21 year olds in the UFC are people who are cross over life long sports stars(Jon Jones, Sage Northcutt). They're the rare ones.
A 21 year old putting so much pressure on their organs is a lot different than an older person who's had more experience doing it.
And example might be Johnny Hendricks last weight cut. Blocked organs might have killed a younger man.

Nah. Millions of weight cuts go just fine. And because one guy died, before we have any information regarding the details around, we're going to panic and ruin a system that works just fine today and always has in this and a bunch of other sports? I don't see it.

Wow, this isn't really ONE FC's fault, but there was just recently a fighter that showed ONE FC's negligence when it came to fighters safety post fight. ONE FC never responded I believe which is a disgrace cause of Hume being apart of it. Don't know the specifics, but this should be a wake up call for everyone in the sport
