UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is one of the most exciting fighters in MMA today, but his biggest problem in the UFC has been his ability to stay healthy. Dana White told the media at last night's UFC Fight Night 32 press conference that Pettis currently has an unspecified knee injury, but will still defend his title vs. Josh Thomson on December 14th at UFC on Fox 9. Fox Sports has more details:
White did not specify Pettis’ injury, but said Pettis has spent the last two days in Las Vegas, seeing Dr. Steven Sanders, an orthopedist at Bone & Joint Specialists. After examining Pettis, Sanders informed him that no surgery would be necessary to address his problem.

Keep in mind that Pettis pulled out of his featherweight title clash against Jose Aldo at UFC 163 with a torn meniscus, and also sprained his PCL following his lightweight title victory over Ben Henderson at UFC 164. There's no word on whether or not the injury Dana referred to is the same one that Pettis suffered in the Henderson fight.
Pettis (17-2) fought 4 times in 2010 (all in the WEC), but has just 5 fights in 3 years with the UFC. His outstanding striking game, tremendous striking defense, as well as his highly dangerous submissions have propelled him to the top of the lightweight division, but his recurring health issues at just 26-years-old are definitely a concern. Hopefully there are no further setbacks over the next few weeks and he is able to showcase his talents on national TV this December against Josh Thomson.

Another scare by Pettis. I pray he doesn't pull out due to injury.

He will not fight on this card.
If he does, The Punk becomes the new champ.

His injures worry me so much. I don't want him to end up with shogun knees

To late. Pettis IMO will be like Penny Hardaway, get talent with a body that could not hold up. It happens.

if Anthony Pettis have any setback in the next few weeks then I think pettis will pull out due to injury then Josh Thomson face Gilbert Melendez in the main event.

Pettis is a Bonafide Bad A$$....He's just Fragile or in the spirit of the Greatest Christmas movie Ever "A Christmas Story", He be Frageely. Hope it's a minor setback. I'm looking forward to the dance with The Punk. I believe it could be a Goodie. If it turns out bad Gil/Thomson 4 for an interim Belt ain't too bad for a replacement. I still say Josh won 2 of 3, but I'm down for a 4th

And the sad part is that he has the potential to be a Jon Jones or GSP-esque super star. The dude has it all. Skill, style, swagger, looks, etc. He just needs to tone it down. Like Rory, these dudes need to chill in the training room.

I feel like Rory's injuries have been from overtraining while Pettis's injuries seem to be him not giving them time to heal properly.

For a second, I thought maybe he had an unfortunate eyebrow waxing incident.

Sucks to hear about another injury for Pettis, glad to see he is still fighting but man its worrying for someone so young and talented. I would hate to see this kid fall due to injuries so hopefully we dont hear about again anytime soon.

That would make sense. I think Rory is getting smarter with his training considering this weekend is gonna be the second straight fight in a row without pulling out due to injury.

Good thing he already has the belt or some people might be inclined to cry about it and ask for the title shot instead.....

I remember when he pulled out due to broken nail while shopping with Mike Ricci, leading up to his fight with BJ Penn.

The excuse and groundwork for the rematch has been laid.
