I kind of expected this.
From all the issues that the colts have, to the massive contract that Luck will get, to the signing bonus and potential contract for Manning just spells a lot of troubles.
Colts need money to get key players around Luck. Having both Manning and Luck would have made things really hard.

Honestly, my biggest fear with Peyton, is now the history now of injuries, and his age.
36 years old, 4 neck operations. And, with the nerve issues that are being explained, we don't know exactly WHERE Peyton is at with his recovery either. And, a quick youtube clip doesn't tell the whole story either.
And, both Peyton and Irsay could of grown up, push the ego's aside, and redo that deal that Peyton got. A $28mil roster signing bonus is just plain crazy. Knock that down a LOT, maybe redo some of his deal, and allow Luck to learn from a master. Instead, we had 2 grown men, talking back and forth with some nonsense "I can do this!", "No you can't!".
All that said, it's gonna be fun to see where he goes, and when.

As a Colts fan this kinda makes me said. Yay we get Luck but Indianapolis is flawed in almost every other aspect of the game. It was only with a stellar quarterback that we could cover most of these flaws.

As a Titans fan, I love seeing it. The Colts will finally take the backseat in the AFC, def the AFC South.

The neck is still a huge issues. It's good to hear he's throwing the ball hard again, but like you said, seeing a very short clip of him throwing doesn't really do justice. That being said, if Manning can eventually get to the point where the neck/nerves is strong and don't bother him, I think he has some good football in him yet. He hasn't taken a ton of damage over the course of his career like other QB's that were near or around his age.
I didn't like the drama between the two either. However, I would put more blame on Irsay. Originally he was mad that Manning spoke in public about all the firings that were happening. Irsay wasn't happy with that so Manning made an apology and sounded real sincere. Then we have Irsay basically saying to media a bunch of BS over and over and over.
Manning has already said he is willing to structure his deal so it's based on how well he plays/how many games he plays as well.
This is the right choice, imo. Luck should start right away like Manning right away. If the Colts are serious about getting back to winning ways they really couldn't have afforded both guys, especially if Manning played really well.

"It's going to be a 'Joe Montana in a Chiefs jersey moment' for a lot of fans next year"
- Some dude on ESPN2
I totally agree.
- Someone just old enough to remember how weird that looked.

colts finally realized they were nothing without manning..........which most people should have known
so they are doing the right thing and will spend the next few years rebuilding, probably won't ever be the same but at least their "team" might have a chance.

Or they realize that he will be 36 in March and they are picking Luck who is going to be an instant starter. They'd have too much money tied up with both-and clearly they need help damn near everywhere.
Hoge and Trent Dilfer personally saw Manning throw and they said he was very accurate, could throw the deep ball and he is near 100%. Dilfer went as far as saying he thinks whatever team Manning ends up on, they will win at least 10 games. I've only seen a clip here or there, so that is some pretty sound words coming from both those guys. It'll be interesting to see.

Sure, but they knew all that before. They didn't make this final decision until after they saw him throw recently.

I don't think that rests only on him. Words is that Manning is throwing strong and looking close to 100%. This is coming from guys that were around him and are pretty damn opinionated. Sure, the injury is still cause for some concern, but I think Irsay realized that it is time to move on in general. He's got a young kid in Luck that should be a starter right from the start. He needs to build the colts for the future..not the next 2, maybe 3 years and then start all over again. I think it's a big combination of things. I wouldn't be surprsied to see Manning play like a stud this coming season either.
Irsay made the right business move regardless of how good Manning may or may not be next year.

Yeah, they're putting a lot of faith in Luck being like Newton, but the Colts were so bad last year, it's hard to fathom that they're going to end up with 2 peyton mannings in a row.
i don't like how the colts went from best team to worst team in one year and it was coincidentally it was one when they could get a top QB prospect. While i don't hope he turns out like can't miss failures of the recent past, i do hope they have some severe growing pains.
WAR Manning.
