First off, I really want to fight. [UFC 118 is] a big show -- first one in Boston. It would have been great. The card is huge, and maybe I could have a good fight and get on TV. Get some exposure. I need it now badly. I'm left out of a lot of sh** nowadays. I'm forgotten at the expos and appearances. Just everything with the UFC. I wanted to win a big fight, look impressive and get considered again. I wanted to say, 'Hey Dana, I'm still f**king here. I still can fight.' I wanted to say it to everyone: the fans, the media. I'm still Phil f**king Baroni. That used to mean something. I want it to mean something again. I want to say, 'Hey Strikeforce, you made a big mistake letting me go. You f**ked up. You blew it. I'm still somebody, and I still bring things to the table that not many fighters do.' I just want to be a contender. I want respect from my peers, the fans, media and the promotions. I wanted to say, 'I'm still here, don't f**king forget about me. I'm not dead yet. I want to be a contender -- I want to matter again. I want to be the biggest comeback story ever -- a Cinderella Man.

I always thought the N.Y. sad a$$ was a "cinderella man". Phil had his day & he treated us to some exciteing fights, some of them were anyway. He was always a one demensional fighter who did suprisingly well with what he had. He was a heavy hitting brawler with good (not great) boxing, decient T.D.defense & piss poor cardio. I wish him nothing but the best & as thanks for all the entertainment, I'll pay for the guy to get a tatoo. It should be on his butt & read "property of team quest".

he's been so predictable for such a long time. it's always sad to hear a fighter so down on themselves. i have a hard time trying to come up with guys i would expect him to beat in the ufc. i guess i could maybe see him knocking out jonathan goulet at 170 or maybe nate quarry at 185? and those are big maybes too

Nate Quarry would spank Barroni like a baby. Besides, Nate still trains with Team Quest dosen't he? Look into the history of Barroni & Team Quest then refer to my previous post on the subject.

what other team quest guys has he lost to other than tanner and lindland? doesn't exactly mean that just because quarry trains with the same team he's gonna win. i was just trying to say that stylewise baroni has a chance. both guys stand and bang and i think baroni has enough power(1st round) to take quarry out if he landed a big punch. not saying he'd win, just that he'd have a chance. maybe you didn't see the 'big maybe' part.

I'm pretty dissapointed hes off the card too. He is a great showman. Woulda been cool to see him walkout to the cage and to freakout if he won.

Baroni is a heavy hitter & he has a chance against anyone including GSP. I did see your "big maybe" & I wasn't trying to make you look bad, I just don't like Baroni. I think Quarry is more technical & would mix it up with kicks while Phil stood there & boxed till his gas ran out after round one. I don't hate Phil either, I'd root for him against some fighters but, I can't think of who.
Phil lost twice to Lindland & twice to Tanner, so he's 0 & 4 against team quest. All 4 fights went EXACTLY the same with Phil getting taken down at will & gently G & Pd to a decision. I don't think Phil is very smart & I'm sure Team Quest would come up with a strategy that any of their fighters could win with as long as they didn't slip & fall.

Baroni coming back to the UFC was a good move for them, why? because it made Amir career put back on track, the ufc brought a guy with no chance to win that match but with some name around mma world to take on Amir so him take a must needed win.
after that UFC kind of give him another fight i had to be honest i kind of give him some chance to beat Salter on this match, now i think the UFC need to make the same that they did with Amir and give someone in the mw baroni that needs so bad a win, like Nate Quarry or Jason Macdonald, or why not Mcgee or Kris McCray? i know they got figths alredy in line but Baroni will be out for some time too so after they took those fights no matter what the result are they can take Baroni and have more UFC ring experience that always is good and another win under his belt that is always good to show
