"Well, it turns out there is quite a background story to the attacker from the University of Michigan, and unfortunately, it’s fairly tragic.
The young woman’s name is Temulun Togochog. She is the daughter of parents who fled persecution by the Chinese Communist Party so that every child born to them could grow up in the land of freedom that is America. Her parents lived in the U.S. as political asylum seekers for years before she was born.
In December 2024, at the age of 17, she testified before Congress about the privilege she had to live in the U.S. and spoke on behalf of the people of Southern Mongolia about how their language, culture, and rights were being completely erased under the Communist Party.
In short, this was someone you would expect to harvest the sweet fruits of America—the very ones her parents fought and risked their lives for—and continue along the right track.
So what actually happened? In a word: Michigan. In two words: college in Michigan.
Although Michigan is considered a purple state—meaning it’s fairly balanced in terms of its Republican and Democratic populations—much like a good portion of blue states, when Democrats decided to vote for a Muslim candidate named Abdul El-Sayed (who, much like Mr. Mamdani, speaks out against everything America stands for and is, of course, a staunch anti-Israeli), you can understand how far left the Democrats have gone. It even reached a point where a well-known public figure who identified as a lifelong Democrat announced she would vote today for the Republican candidate in the midterms.
So when you take someone like Temulun who enters a university where Qatar’s money and China’s TikTok have reached every single corner of the academic institution—spreading their doctrine of how America is the devil and needs to be fundamentally dismantled—the result speaks for itself: a septum ring that wouldn’t shame the most obedient bull, full-body coverage of tattoos, massive ear gauges, the haircut of a 6-year-old boy, and a tongue piercing.
Mentally, she posted a TikTok video documenting all the psychiatric pills she takes. As for her views and behavior—well, as we saw in the video, not only did she attack the Jewish influencer Liz Benitah because Liz asked if she thought she could walk around like that in Iran, and because she was physically smaller than her, but in the video she also stated she had been hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital and would have killed Liz if she could, all while a police officer handcuffed and arrested her following the attack. As of this writing, Temulun has been released, and Liz has now launched a campaign calling for her expulsion from the university—and rightly so.
So after watching the assault video and reading her background story, I can't help but feel pity. Not for Temulun, but for her parents—for the immense risk, sacrifice, and everything they went through so their daughter could grow and thrive in the land of opportunity.
And now they have to deal with someone who threw out the window the very principles that made America great, choosing instead to support those who intend to turn America into Communist China.
And as we, as Israelis, saw what became of those campuses after that cursed October day, this is one of the reasons conservative parents are reluctant to send their children to college to undergo destructive brainwashing like Temulun and many students like her. Perhaps the lasting solution is to ensure children attend educational institutions that haven’t fallen victim to the sweeping influence of Qatar and China. Because as a great man once said: "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.""
