Poll: Alistair Overeem vs. Jon Jones

It's hilarious that this thread was even made. It's like asking who I think would win between my local HS football team and the NY giants hahaha. JJ stands absolutely no chance. He would lose 10 out of 10 times against that monster. Alistair would hurt him very badly IMO. Little Johnny needs to bulk up big time if he thinks he's gonna run with the big dogs

You know what I think is funny is that people could actually be so delusional to think jones would have any chance RIGHT NOW. And that is the question. The question isn't asking who do you think would win in a few years from now. So I stick to what I said. JJ stands absolutely zero chance against overeem right now. Alistair would walk him down and destroy him very badly IMO. We are talking about a 265 pound beast of a striker here that would prolly drop jones with one solid shot. And even if jones does get him down somehow (don't see happening) overeem has a very good and active guard. So even from there I see him subbing jones or getting back up easily just cause he has so much of a strength advantage. I have a better chance of finding a 100 dollar bill on the ground today than JJ does beating overeem. :lol: :lol: :lol:

Let me guess...... You also thought Overeem would destroy Werdum if the fight took place standing?
Well that didn't happen.
The Reem all day if Bones can't get him down as he will tee off when given the opportunity( like Sugar and Vitor had)
However,we have no idea how big and string Bones will be at HW,he's already a decent size now if he wanted to move up,but imagine a bones at 6"4 with that reach at 260 pounds(Reem style) he could be manhandling everybody at this weight when or if he moves up..Frightening if he did..

You can't really say that that fight took place standing. Every time Overeem attacked Werdum, Werdum fell on his @ss and waited to get stood up. That was a pathetic fight for Werdum.

Seems pretty clear to me that the question relates to a possible fight when Jones moves up to heavyweight, in 2013.

Wow! Really??? It's gonna be 2013 in 2 months little buddy. If they put in a full training camp it would be 2013 when the bout takes place. Sorry but that comment was pretty lame. And even by the end of 2013 he won't be a top contender at HW. It's gonna take awhile for him to adapt. We need to see if he can hang with a top ten guy first before talking about overeem for gods sake. People are crazy

Jones has stated he's looking to move up to HW at the end of 2013. Maybe you didn't know that, but to me it seemed pretty clear that the question was relating to a fight when Jones does actually move up to HW, not in the next few months.
The question say he's planning on moving up to HW in 2013. Doesn't say anything about when exactly the bout would take place so I was just assuming sometime in 2013. Anyways.....ill just say if overeem is one of his first few fights he will get embarrassed and probably hurt. It's gonna take him awhile to develop into a top contender at HW IMO
Jon Jones is a great athlete no doubt. However, in the Heavy Weight ranks he will be just another fish in a very big pond. I do not see him getting past, JDS, Overeem, Cain, Werdum, Cormier and Even BigFoot. Will he be Top 10, Yes. Will he be the HW Champ ever, NOT for a very long time if he can handle all the losses and waiting out others to leave if it even happens.. I will say that if he does move up i would like to see him fight someone like Big Country first, Style wise even that is a hard fight for him and a good test with someone that will not stop coming and push you to your limits equally good on the ground.. I don't see Dana doing that because he would not want his Money machine to look bad. My guess is he will match him with someone like Schaub or Rothwell if this really happens and do things slow.

Very well said. I couldn't agree with you more. And to spud: maybe embarrassed is a bit of a strong word. But I do think it will be years before jones can compete with any of the top 5 HW's let alone overeem in which I believe is top 2
