I think it's what will make him successful. If he would have been more aggressive in the last fight he would have won. He caught Machida a couple time really good.
I have Machida by decision. I have serious doubts as to whether or not Shogun can actually be KO'd. I gave Machida the decision in the first fight, and I don't see the second fight being any different. I have a feeling that no matter who wins it, it's not going to be as close as the first. One of them is going to come up with something that sets them apart from the other, unlike the first fight. I have no clue as to what that may be, but I still think it will happen.
I still gotta go with my man the Chida. He will go into camp working on what went wrong in that fight, as will Shogun, but Machida will just come out better. I still think he is the better fighter. The pressure of being the champ and all that it entails looks as if it had gotten to him.
Hell, I haven't even rewatched the fight yet, it made me that sick...

+1. He failed to take machida to the ground in the first fight. He kept trying but never got it . Let him spend few months with wrestlers training for the 2nd fight.

I doubt it. He did catch Machida a few times, but Machida caught him pretty good a few times as well. If Rua is more aggressive in the early rounds he'll get knocked out.

in the rematch i want to see Shogun taking Machida down at least ONE TIME, glad to see shogun's gnp against machida
Machida is going to take a decision or KO. Shogun has already said that he worked hard on his gameplan, and it almost won him the fight. Machida is going to go back to the drawing board, and come in with an even better game plan. I just have a feeling shogun comes out and does the same things, and machida is going to be ready.
you guys just saw the best machida... machida fought exactly like he has been fighting... he did nothing wrong, you guys sound like shogun had one of those days and lachita had a horrible day... Shogun is the superior athlete, he did everything good and lost because some idiots were judging the fights (and probably bet their houses with the next door bookie) Shogun beat him up for 5 rounds, and will do it again. It will be great to see him actually tak him down, but I seriusly doubt machida can be take down.

Shogun looked fantastic, but you're assuming that Machida isn't going to change anything for the rematch? Shogun and Machida both need to switch some things up. Shogun lost the decision whether you want to admit it or not, and Machida knows that he needs to keep Shogun off his legs. Shogun's game plan the first time was good, but it wasn't good enough.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that I think
both
guys are going to improve their games and come in with a different, or more polished strategy than last saturday.

Haha -- but seriously, isn't this a realistic scenario? I mean, Shogun outperformed Lyoto and Lyoto won. Don't you think Shogun almost has to finish Lyoto to have a chance? :?

Word. I give a s---, but I'm just 1. frustrated that a rematch is necessary, and 2. skeptical about the UFC's ability to get it right even if Shogun outdoes Lyoto again. I would love to see these guys fight again, but the first time was such bulls--- that it puts me off the whole idea.
