I think it's a bit of both... a thing of beauty and boring. Look at GSP-Koscheck... the fight itself was completely boring and one sided... GSP destroyed Kos' face with the jab and he couldn't do anything about it. But it was also a thing of beauty to see someone execute a game plan so perfectly and completely dominate a fight with just a jab. You won't see that often so the near flawless performance itself was thing of beauty.
If it becomes Rory's main weapon, then yeah it'll get a little boring. But until this last fight, he usually uses it to set up other stuff... in that case it can be a thing of beauty when the jab leads to the execution of his gameplan.

One fight where he uses a jab exclusively and was 'boring' and he is pigeon holed? Look at how he used it to beat the snot out of BJ Penn as a set up punch and to keep a shorter fighter at his range. He did that against Ellenberger but Jake just sat there and didn't open up like Penn.

I think it is a thing of beauty when it is setup with combos that try to finish.

I utterly enjoyed GSP vs. Kos II. The look on the faces of Koschek's fans at the sports bar was Priceless

UGH - Other, he did it to an uncomplished striker that obviously froze up BADLY.... Ellenberger is a power bomb puncher/wrestler. Yes he works with Rafeal, but I havent seen much in his striking besides decent technique and athleticism. Doesnt know how to time it yet at all.

This. He was easily winning a fight against a guy who has 18 T/KO wins, there was no need to open up & put himself in danger. If anyone should be criticised, it's Ellenberger & his cornermen. He sat on the end of MacDonald jab for 2 & a half rounds without doing anything & his cornermen didn't seem to give him any advice on countering it.

When watching the fight with friends we were shocked at just how poor the cornering was for Ellenberger vs how Zarabi was in the corner of Rory. The level; of advice between rounds was night and day. I guess that is the difference of a top level championship camp vs the mid level camps.

I voted boring but I was just thinking of his last fight, it's usually a thing of beauty when he uses it to set up combos, like in the Penn fight he was throwing some of the best combos i have seen all set up with his jab

Yeah, I think it also shows the difference between having a head coach who's a full time coach & a head coach who's a full time fighter. Firas is young but becoming a better coach is what he can focus on, guys like Munoz they have other priorities.

I like to see how this new Jab of Rory's works against Condit. Rematch needs to happen.

Is this really a poll on how entertaining a JAB is?

I think his jab is still a work in progress. he's still learning how to use it and with what he should use it for. to simply keep his opponent at bay or to set up his offense when he's able to turn up the pace.
