With the talk of peds again since the Thiago Silva story broke,I was wondering what's the story with a fighter having alcohol in his system during a fight?
Example > somebody throws back a few quick shots of whiskey before his fight ,helps reduce pain

While drinking makes people (including myself) feel like they can beat up the whole world, it's more likely to reduce fighting ability. The advantage of not feeling as much pain would be negated by the severe disadvantage of poor co-ordination and all the other effects of alcohol.

since they don't breathalize you and alcohol isn't a banned substance I don't think you'd see any fights overturned or anything.
I also don't think commission official would let you step into the ring if you smelled like booze and seemed buzzed...

Actually, alcohol is a banned substance. In fact, it's the very first substance mentioned in the NAC.
NAC 467.850 Administration or use of alcohol, stimulants, drugs or injections; urinalysis or chemical tests; disciplinary action. (NRS 467.030)
1. The administration of or use of any:
(a) Alcohol;
(b) Stimulant; or
(c) Drug or injection that has not been approved by the Commission, including, but not limited to, the drugs or injections listed in subsection 2, in any part of the body, either before or during a contest or exhibition, to or by any unarmed combatant, is prohibited.
