Fresh off a dominating win over Brandon Vera at UFC 125, light heavyweight Thiago Silva (15-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) next will fight former champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson (31-8 MMA, 6-2 UFC) in a UFC 130 bout expected to have a major impact on the title picture.
Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) verbal agreements are in place for the fight.
UFC 130 takes place May 28 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Jackson vs. Silva likely will be part of the pay-per-view main card, possibly in a headlining or co-headlining spot.
Despite fighting for the first time in a year due to injuries, Silva looked sharp in a lopsided unanimous-decision win over Vera this past week. Silva dominated the fight on the mat with frequent takedowns, a smothering top game, and ground and pound that ultimately broke his opponent's nose. In the end, the judges awarded the Brazilian the decision via scores of 30-26, 30-27 and 30-27.
Prior to the victory, Silva opened his career with a 13-0 mark but then went 1-2 with losses to former champs Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans and a knockout win over Keith Jardine.
Jackson, meanwhile, recently got back into the title picture and rebounded from his own loss to Evans with a close split-decision victory over Machida in November's UFC 123 headliner. It was his third win in the four fights since he lost his belt to Forrest Griffin in 2008. The former PRIDE star's other recent victories came over Wanderlei Silva (knockout) and Jardine (decision).

This could be really bad for Rampage. Thiago will be going for the TD and beating Rampage up from the top. That's pretty much what he does. They might slug it out a little but I expect more of what we saw against Vera. Hopefully Thiago either decides to slug it out on the feet or Rampage can avoid the TD so we can see they guys slug it out.

I don't really see why he wouldn't. He's not shooting for a double leg, he's clinching and tripping. Plus he's probably pretty even with Rampage in the strength department. I think there's a pretty good chance he can get the one TD he needs to stay on top for the entire round. I think once Thiago gets him down, Rampage probably isn't getting up. Thiago is also a very good BJJ blackbelt so he'll have very little trouble getting all the way to mount where he usually finishes. Rampage is going to have to KO him early I think or really work on his clinch.

Thiago will be fired up for this,he said in an interview years ago that he would fight anyone but Wandy cause Wandy is his hero.
Surely he'll be out to avenge the late strikes from Ramage on Wandy

I remember hearing how Rashad was going to take down Rampage at will, then imo during that fight he appeared to have dificulty doing so. I wouldn't go so far as to say he "won't be able to", but the difficulty he'll face trying to do that, could be good for the fans. The majority of this match may be on the feet.

Rampage has a good sprawl but you're right, Thiago's a tripper and get on top using his jitz and ground game. I don't agree with the strength dept though. I think page hits harder and is stronger than thiago. Thiago, while good at BJJ, probably wont get the sub. when was the last time we saw page get subbed? Dude is really good at avoiding submissions and powering out of them. There's only 4 ways I see this fight going. Thiago by DEC or GnP stoppage. Page by KO or DEC if he's able to avoid getting taken down.
