The BMF title is a fucking joke. Should have been a one off, and even that. Get rid of that stupid thing.

you got a little Justin hate going, which is fine. he annoyed the shit out of me with that demand for the UFC to create a passive income situation for him.

Oliveira is the biggest name by far at LW and he's still dominating.. Nobody could even hold Max down for 30 seconds within the last decade.. homie didn't just keep him there, he dominated and looked for submissions the entire time. 2-0 since his last undisputed title fight, dominated both opponents easily, however he wanted.

Regardless.. Ilia SHOULD get that shot next. I personally feel these are the next contenders.

2. Oliveira
3. Arman

The rest, need to fight and work that out.

Bsd is the ONLY top 5 fighter paddy has beaten, his ranking is a given after beating chander (who was ranked #7 for some reason... and hasn't won since 2022) based off that he got a title shot. The BSD win was phenomenal. I thought he was gonna get beatdown and he pulled off one of the most slickest subs ever. However... not title fight material and never should've been in one.

Ruffy is doing really really well, (even beating my favorite fighter), however I'm not seeing enough that makes me scream for him to be in title contention.

I don't want to sounds like that but can you give me the main reason without telling stories why Ilia deserves the next shot over Arman? He lost by TKO and has zero defenses, take a step back and win at least one more before getting another shot

(I'm talking about vs Gaethje there will be no interim or whatever)

Annoyance, there's no hatred of the guy, fun fighter, but he's literally turning into what he said he hated.. which was an inactive champion, who doesn't fight contenders. It's why Conor and him argued all those years back.

You can't criticize someone for something.. then do it.. and expect no criticism your way for it..

There's not really a #1 contender.

Arman is being punished by the ufc for his weight miss and refusal to fight. So unless he's spectacular in his next showing.. I wouldn't be surprised if the ufc passed him up, or made him wait until the next fight is done.

Outside of Arman, there's Oliveira, which I'm 100% cool with and the ufc would give him it.. I just don't think Gaethje wants it. Gaethje was talking about "running it back go get that one back." But last week did an interview saying "I beat Ilia, who beat Holloway and Oliveira, so in my mind, I got those back.".... Absolutely not.

Then you have Ilia, who the entire world enjoys watching and who JUST lost his undefeated streak and title, who many believe deserve to run that back to prove to himself if it was an actual loss or a fluke from taking it too lightly.

TLDR

Ilia makes the most sense based off where it seems the company is going. You have an undefeated champion who brings eyes, and at 1 point was the p4p #1 in the world. This guy just lost in a very high profile fight, that was a close slugfest where both nearly finished one another. fair to give him 1 more chance, just based off everything he has done?

Topuria or Oliveira should be next.

it's fun to do that though. drives people crazy. false accusations too. call up one of your neighbors on a blocked line and tell them you saw them dumping used motor oil down the storm drain, lean into it hard - watch what happens. Or tell him that if you see him using your garden hose to wash his car again you're gonna kick his ass.

A boxer didn't do it. You think a BJJ guy will go in and do some knee chops, get him on the ground and submit him? Royce Gracie style?

I always read that Gaethje was a tremendous wrestler. Never saw him do his wrestling. He's always a boxing striker first. And not even a boxer, he throws those looping fists. I would say a brawler that is tough in the head, durable, and can overpower people. That's his skill.

max, Charles, kabib, dustin, Eddie alvarez. all beat him. he has lost to all styles, been KO'd, TKOd, and submitted. the only kind of loss he hasn't tasted is a decision loss. he's gangster, throws caution to the wind. and with that comes losses, consistently. his longest win streak in the UFC was 4 wins, that ended in 2020 (began in August 2018). He's now on win #3 in this streak, which began in 2025. he's due for another loss in the next 2 fights and he knows it.

Actually very tactical in some later fights though.
Since Chandler he’s been really high IQ.
Chandler was better than him and there it away for a crazy hands down meme sequence, so he was too stupid to win. Others Justin positively outplayed them.

He did a bit in WSF but on his welcome tour to the UFC PI he was given his locker and told ‘this is where your wrestling goes, you won’t be needing it here’.
Chandler’s is right next to it but a little smaller.

I still don't understand, why the reward for a champion with many defences is not "hey you just need one win and get the rematch"
Why is the immediate rematch and clock the whole division?
The top5 would fiight hopefully more often, if those immediate rematches would just end..
And i say this while totally looking forward to a potential Ilia vs Justin 2.

That makes sense to me but the majority of rematches that ufc makes doesn't. Especially rematches not for the title. I can understand it more if the guy that just lost a title fight is still unquestionably the best contender in the division.

prove it with one fast fight.
If he is the best by such a large margin that he should get the rematch, fight and prove it.
He even gets fucking paid for it.
If controversy is involved.. maybe.
Or if you have an insane Volkanovski that really beat every other top 5er in the last 1,5 years.

But only a close decision?.. go fight.
Even if i want to see a rematch like now with Justin and Ilia.
Go and fight.
Champions usually sit back as long as they can anyway, so you have time.
But in an ideal world, both would just fucking fight in the meantime xD

There were whole months where @ABB had more fights in Europe because of ketchup than some division champs had for money.
