Randy keeps saying he wants a title shot although i dont feel he deserves it. Machida would be a perfect opponent for him to prove he deserves a shot. The fight could be marketed as a main event as long as there is a good #2 fight on the card. What do you guys think about this or just give Randy a shot after Rampage/Rashad winner fights Shogun.

I agree. In my opinion Randy doesn't deserve a shot. However, that has never stopped Dana White before, and I don't see it being any different now. My money says he gets a shot after the winner of Evans/Jackson.

Too many people to go through before he gets the shot, Machida, loser of Rampage vs. Rashad, Chuck again, Griffin, Jones, etc. Hell the list goes on and on. He has to beat someone at or near the top to get it again. Only fair. That being said, money always talks and he is a draw for any of the top opponents on PPV.
Just a point of clarification. I really don't want this to happen but, if he loses to Toney by a KO or TKO for some reason.....well....bye bye.

Honestly, I really hope this happens. Just so Couture loses. Otherwise, he is going to continue to feed off of non-contender fighters until Dana White is like "Hey everybody! Randy has 5 wins a row! Lets see him fight for the title...again!"
When that happens, we all lose.
If he ends up fighting Machida, we all win because Machida will knock him the f--- out, thus keeping him away from the title that he shouldn't even be able to talk about.

Do you guys really think Randy is a draw for PPV? He has never and never will be a big draw. He just fights people that are the draws.
People love the "old man" story but who really catches a fight JUST to see Randy.

Couture won't have to secure more than 3 consecutive wins before he gets a title shot!
This is Captain America we are talking about , not some up n comer trying to make a name for himself.
Randy is trying to make history and if they give him the title shot then I'm all for it!
Whether he wins or loses he will still have competed in more title bouts than anyone in MMA history.

I'm not saying that he is going to have to secure 3 consecutive wins.
My personal opinion is a win over Toney will suffice for DW to give Couture a title shot. I don't think that is good and or fair to true contenders, as I do think he should face some quality opponents before securing yet another title shot, but I don't think that will happen.

I wish you could place bets on things like "Randy Couture will get a title shot on the Super Bowl weekend card."

Isn't there a betting forum? Is it something that can be bet on there?

Oh, I agree! Its definitely not fair to other contenders but as long as they keep winning then they will get their shot in due time!
Don't forget that Couture is still one of the UFC's golden poster boys so he will most likely get offered these types of opportunities before a less popular but more deserving fighter and he is a big PPV draw on top of everything!

Randy could pull out a victory over Machida then he would deserve a shot but wins over Vera,Coleman, and Toney dont warrant a shot.If he fought Machida Id be interested but I think Machida will send him into retirement.

Sounds like a quick counter left straight into nap time for Randy.
They need to start feeding him cans to make him look good before they feed him to the wolves.

Machida would rip Randy's very soul from his gut, roast it in the fires of hell and devour it in the center of the octagon. For the safety of Randy, don't let that fight happen.

I agree with the points about giving the true contenders their opportunities for the title and think that Machida v Randy would be a great fight to see (even if Randy is playing with fire). We have seen Randy fight people that were supposed to knock him out (Brandon Vera, Gonzoga, Tim Sylvia, etc), and he has proved people wrong before. Now I do know that Machida is a completely different type of striker than these examples, and this will be happening in a much faster paced weightclass, so thats why this would be an interesting fight to see if Randy can neutralize Machida's reserved yet explosive striking. It seems like a recipe for disaster for Randy, but if he would like to give it a go, there is no better pre-fight tactical fighter than Couture.
That being said, if Rashad loses to Rampage, Randy V Rashad would also be a good matchup if DW is looking to get Randy into the LHW ranks.

Good post! Makes good sense too (Randy vs Rashad) or even Rampage if he loses. Page did well against Chuck but Couture is a completely different fighter from Liddel. Would be nice to see how either guy fares against Couture! Their all wrestlers so it could turn out to be a stand up war possibly ending in brutal KO/TKO.
