As per Ed Soares on the MMA Hour. Ed Soares will be CEO of new promotion. Promotion has signed 5 year TV deal with AXS and is expecting to do 30 shows per year. Both rosters will completely merge, which will make for a significantly better product, and more consistent shows. All champions of Legacy / RFA will fight to unify titles, which is pretty fun as a fan.
Pretty big news for MMA. Especially for up and coming talent. Ed Soares described it as the NCAA for MMA. Which is a pretty good analogy. The LFA will be the premier organization for the growth of young talent, and gladly takes the role of feeder league to the UFC. Pretty smart to not try and compete with the UFC but rather work with them. Thoughts?

Was reading rumours a few days ago that Legacy were sending fighters cheques that were bouncing. Guessing this has something to do with it.

Love it. Also really like that they do not want to be the UFC and are happy being a feeder leauge.

Love their stance. Like realize that you are not the UFC, embrace the fact that you do not have NEAR the talent pool, nor will you ever build to that and just accept where you are on the totem pole.

I would love it if the UFC took LFA and Invicta on as their official minor leagues. Send people back and forth between minors and majors as needed, similar to AAA baseball

UFC has plenty of fighters that could use some time down in either LFA or invicta. I hope it does become somewhat of a minor league program for the UFC

That poll is too meta.
So what happens to Mick Maynard?
30 events per year?... so they're not really trimming things down at all.
Did I use "
meta
" right?

Seems cool in theory, but there is already enough MMA between UFC and Bellator that I will probably never watch this.

Legacy and RFA have had better fights for a while now. Might not know most of the names as most are up and comers. With a few vets here and there. But nothing like the senior league Bellator has.

This changes nothing. Some new matchups sure but both these orgs lack depth so its basically the same thing. These guys cant even compete with WSOF.

But their not trying to. RFA goal has always been to get fighter's to the UFC. Legacy, while never stated has always let fighters go champ, fight planned or not. The cost are low, and contracts are low. My guess is this organization out lives both WSOF and Bellator.

And also the fact that both organizations are 90% kids. They know their role and are pretty good at it. Bellator tries to be the UFC and fails miserably. And WSOF is stuck somewhere in the middle and does like 4 events a year. At least this new company has direction.

I could, sure, but if there's a cloud in the sky, there won't be any channels available at all.

At my last place, I had Verizon, and I loved watching AXS for that exact reason. Great content there

Bellator used to be like that until Viacom got their grimy hands on it and brought in company man Coker.
