My point is that hes scared to go to the ground with them. I see that as scared. He barly even exchanged with either of them. Silva wouldnt even go into there gaurds and if he did it would be momentarly. AS was scared of being submitted. he said he wanted no part in either of there ground game him self.

It's impossible to know what Silva is actually thinking, but I think most people will disagree with you on this. In my view, Silva didn't go to the ground, and didn't want anything to do with the ground, because there was absolutely no need for him to do so. Bottom line, if you are continually knocking your opponent on his arse standing, there is no reason to not stand back and let the ref stand the other guy up. Then you just keep knocking him down until finally he's either out cold or just has had enough (see Griffin, Forrest). And if the fight doesn't finish, you still win resoundingly on the scorecards.
Just because he's a smart enough guy to know that the only hope either of those fighters had of winning was a submission doesn't mean he's scared. It just means that he believes that if he never gives them the opportunity, it will literally be impossible for them to win. That's just common sense.
Shields would almost certainly be able to take Silva down though. Absolutely no doubt about that. However, would he be able to finish Silva from there? Heck, given how Shields likes to grab a single and hold on like a limpet until he gets his opponent down, and how much power Silva can pack into short punches or ridiculous knees, Shields might even be on queer street before he completes.
