UFC President Dana White announced today that the City of Brotherly Love will get another dose of high-impact welterweight action on August 6th with a veteran vs. prospect meeting.
“Welterweight standouts Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle and Rory ‘The Water Boy’ MacDonald have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 133 in Philadelphia,” said White.

If Mike Pyle is a gatekeeper, then he's been doing a bad job at it. With a 4-2 record in the UFC, which includes a current 3-fight win streak, and wins over the likes of John Hathaway, and Ricardo Almeida, I say he's a little past "gatekeeper" status right now. "The Waterboy" has got his work cut-out for him in this fight, it's not going to be an easy one. Everyone thought Hathaway was going to take it to him, and Pyle just dominated him, I could see this fight going the same way. But with that said, I think MacDonald is future champion material, so I would like to see him pick up a win. The winner should get the winner of Hallman/Ebersole next.

I agree with everything except the "winner of hallman/ebersole". I think those guys are further down the ladder than Pyle/Rory. So fighting the winner of those would not big enough step up.
Rory was 7 seconds from beating condit, now beat Diaz, and if he beats Pyle(who is no joke like you said) he should get someone top 10 or around there.
Pyle definitely has the skills to beat Rory. This should be a good fight, with some solid grappling. I'm going to venture out and say Rory's stand up is better, but all I've really seen from Pyle is his ground game. Should give the winner a solid case to be a top 10 WW or at least right on the verge.

winner of this gets winner of Hendricks/Pierce
makes the most sense since they are on the same card

all those possible matchups would be good. i imagine it will be hendricks vs rory, thatd be sick, since rory hasnt faced an elite wrestler yet this early in his career

Yeah, I would say that if this ends up being the case, Hendricks takes it. He's got power in his hands, I would take him over Rory.

I cant see what Mike brings to the table or Rory ...Rory is for WW what Jon Jones is to LHW. Next Big Thing ..you can see it, it`s evident. I doubt Condit would want to rematch this kid...He barely pulled off the W, and Rorys a sponge. Holes are fixed...honestly, nobodys dominated Nate Diaz quite like Rory did. Rory`s destiny set in stone .. bank on it.
