He's probably still close to weight, deserving, and always down for a scrap.
There is the problem of them being teammates, though.

I won't be surprised if Melendez fights Pat Healy on July 14th, which seems to be the early solution.

It literally dawned on me an hour or so ag that he will more than likely have been training the entire time to fight Melendez in case something like this happened... 8 days isn't short notice when you've probably had an entire training camp just in case.
