Sam Stout may have another British lightweight for his next opponent.
Fresh off a split-decision win over Paul Taylor at UFC 121, Stout is being lined up for a fight with Taylor’s team mate Paul Kelly.
Verbal agreements are in place according to a source Fighters Only spoke with, with the fight likely to place on the undercard of UFC 126 in Las Vegas.
Stout is 1-1 in his last two and 3-1 in his last four, with all of those fights going to decision. Kelly is also 1-1 in his last two and 2-2 in his last four. Both his wins have been inside the distance, as was one of the losses.
Three of Stout’s last four bouts have been declared Fight of the Night (all except the Paul Taylor fight) and each earned him and his opponent a cheque for $60,000. Kelly has one Fight of the Night to his name, from his UFC 80 debut… against Paul Taylor.
Kelly fought this past weekend at UFC 123 in Detroit, Michigan. He stopped UFC debutant TJ O’Brien in the second round by way of TKO due to elbows on the floor, having trapped the BJJ black belt in a crucifix.
If the fight is signed, it will be the third Team Kabon fighter that Stout has faced. Aside from Taylor, Stout has also fought Terry Etim. He lost a unanimous decision.
The UFC recently absorbed the WEC and the lightweight division is set to become one of the most competitive. It has been indicated that roster cutting will be more aggressive going forward and this fight, as with many others, could have the losing fighter’s UFC contract on the line.

this could go either way. stouts always ready to bang. hate to see him get cut due to a loss. maybe not the next contender for the belt but always exciting to watch. always lays it on the line. just the type of guy dana white said hed keep around regardless of outcome. a crowd pleaser equals more dollars in danas pocket than a guy who wants to show off his technical skills. all counter strikers beware! your job is in jeopardy for not stroking the pres's (im sure dana could find an expletive that fits here). thats a whole nother topic.

MAN, I hope Stout takes this!!
I'd hate to see him get cut.
I always enjoy seeing his fights.
This should be a very good fight, especially if both guys fight like it could be their last in the UFC....

With 3 FOTN awards in his last 4 fights I think he'll be fine with a loss.

You only have to worry if you only get 2 KOTN bonus in 4 fights....

Well if Stout comes out and doesn't engage for 12 minutes of a 3 round fight he may be in trouble. I just don't see that happening.

Always been a big fan of Hands of Stone. He's a real scrapper.
I hope he wins this one, it would suck to see him get cut.

ive seen crazier things in the ufc. like when straight shots to an opponents groin were perfectly legal. dont think will be seeing any of that or them let up if it goes 3 even if either opponent survives nearly bein choked out in the 2 previous rds.

i'm still waiting for hands of stone to score a knockout in the ufc. this should be a fun fight. 155 has a lot of really entertaining matches they can make now.
