Yah, complete over the top beatdown. Expect assault charges to be laid on the cops for that one. Dude was on the ground and was in a position to be handcuffed or restrained.

maybe they had previously caught him and when they were getting him up he went crazy and beat the s--- out of (or maybe even killed) a cop in the process and took off again. Maybe he was talking about pulling his weapon out of sock and killing them. It obviously looks bad, but unless you know all of the circumstances you have no idea if the force was truly warranted. I mean it certainly appears to cross the line and go to far, but when you don't have the full picture you just don't know.
Even if you give it the worst backstory you could, the officers still cross the line into police brutality at the point when both are reeling off baton shots when the suspect is on the ground and clearly cannot resist. This isn't Judge Dredd, they aren't judge, jury and executioner.

That's just totally out of order.
The guy stopped running, surrendered and the cops hit him repeatedly over the head with batons and kicked him and could've killed him with brute force. The same thing happened in my town where someone who wasent trying to run or anything got the living s--- kicked out of him by 2 policeman and he died from head injuries.
Criminal they were chasing or not I hope these cops get sacked, jailed and beaten up the same.
That's f---ed up and I don't care what the guy did.
Unless he was a child molester of course, then I hope the cops raped him in the van after the beat down...
