With Tyson Griffin forced to withdraw from his UFC 108 bout with Jim Miller due to an undisclosed injury on Friday, the UFC moved swiftly to bolster a fight card that has been plagued by injuries.
Within hours, Miller received a new opponent, Sean Sherk.
Sherk was originally slated to face Rafaello Oliveira in a preliminary bout. But with holes appearing almost daily on the pay-per-view portion of the fight card, Sherk was called up to face Miller on the main card.
Miller (15-2) is coming off back-to-back wins over Steve Lopez and Ultimate Fighter winner Mac Danzig. His only slip in the Octagon has been to Gray Maynard at UFC 96. He is 4-1 in the UFC, trying to work his way into title contention.
Sherk (33-4-1) is a former UFC lightweight champion. He lost to current champion B.J. Penn in an attempt to reclaim the title at UFC 84. He rebounded with a decision win over Tyson Griffin before stumbling against Frankie Edgar at UFC 98, his last action in the Octagon.
After losing three proposed main events bouts, UFC 108 features a headline bout between former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans and Brazilian Thiago Silva.
Oliveira is expected to remain on the preliminary card to face a new opponent

I got into MMA this past May and I've watched every UFC event since that time, but I'm probably going to pass on this one. I wouldn't mind watching Evans vs. Silva, but yea...

Miller will bring it and try his best to make this fight exciting. Sherk is still a very good fighter, a win for miller over him will put him in the top 5 LW in the UFC.
