Melendez. I really don't think this fight would be all that close either to be honest. Gilbert is an animal, who has has better wrestling than Frankie and probably at least just as good striking.

BJ has never really been a quick on his feet agile guy though, Melendez is. BJ never went for a take down the whole fight. If Gilbert is being outstruke (is that the proper word?) he will. Melendez is not a lazy guy who doesn't train well for fights and not show up in shape, BJ is. I can't see Edgar winning this fight. I honestly can't see Edgar defending his title against anyone. I think the automatic rematch would cause him to immediately lose his title. I think Florian would beat him, and I don't see Edgar Maynard 2 being much different than the first. Those are the fights for him right now. I see Edgar having a short title reign. I would say Gil takes this fight eight out of ten times, maybe all ten.

Well I certainly think that Gilbert would have more problems with Edgar's speed than BJ did, and I am uncertain when it comes to Melendez' wrestling, I mean, I think it is good, but is it better than Edgar's? I am not too sure, I know Melendez has the size advantage, but sometimes size doesn't mean everything.
Melendez has been improving every fight, but I just don't think he would have an answer for Edgar's speed.
I think this fight would look similar to Edgar / Sherk.
But if Melendez looks really solid tomorrow, I will take the Edgar / Sherk comment back.

Any time the UFC wants to stop protecting their fighters I am willing to watch this fight. I think Melendez is little to sloppy in his stand up game. I think both Edgar and BJ could cut through it. BJ would have it on the ground. Would Edgar? I don't think so.

I see alot of MMA math here. if BJ couldnt then he cant.
Gilbert would destroy Frankie. He would actually take him down or destroy him on his feet. He would pursure Frankie something Bj did not do.
Cant use the Bj fight as an example and say Gilbert would be the doing the same thing as BJ
