With so much talk recently about the LHW divison with jones/lyoto and Evans/Davis it got me to thinking about Rich Franklin's possible next opponent, i know Rich is coming back from injury im not really 100% sure when he will be back but i think a fight against Shogun makes sense for both
From Franlin's point of view if its his last fight might as well fight a top 5-10 guy he didn't want to fight up and comer "the goose" (Alexander), this way he get a huge name who's been hot and cold in his run in the UFC and possibly got out on a massive high or expectedly lose to a highly ranked guy which there is no shame in. The UFC might want to give Rich Thiago Silva or on his return both been out for ages. They could decide to give Rich possibly Bonnar but im sure Rich would want a harder fight (not saying Bonnar is easy)
For Shogun with every big name LHW taken or booked all thats really left name wise is Rich Franklin (unless they want to give him Thiago Silva ), its a fight he should win and it will help build him back up after a epic fight with Hendo, althought a loss would be pretty devastating.
thoughts?

Rich is not returning until June-August
At this time, there are alot of options
Gustaffson (should be a name by then)
Shogun
Davis
Lil Nog
Tito
Hendo 2
Bonnar
Rampage
Bader
Griffin 2
Zuffaforce Imports
But 6-8 Months away, there are too many options to predict who he is going to face

ormer UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin had successful shoulder surgery this week and he’s hopeful for a mid-2012 return to the Octagon.
According to a press release from Franklin’s business manager, J.T. Stewart, the Cincinnati native underwent surgery in his hometown on Wednesday and is already on the mend.
“I spoke with Rich, he’s feeling great and as soon as the doctor gives him the go-ahead, he’s ready to start training again,” said Stewart. “If everything goes as expected, UFC fans could see Rich Franklin back in the Octagon in late summer.”
Franklin was originally scheduled to meet Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the co-main event of the UFC 133 card in Philadelphia in August, but a late injury forced the Brazilian off the card and Franklin soon fell by the wayside as well.
Originally, Franklin was rumored to come back in December as a part of UFC 140 to finally get the fight with Nogueira, but the shoulder injury forced him to the sidelines once it was deemed surgery would be required.
Now that the surgery is out of the way, Franklin will have to undergo several months of rehabilitation to get the shoulder back to 100-percent.
If everything goes well, Franklin should be back in the UFC in 2012. The former middleweight champion is also expected to do a rehab blog to keep fans up to date on his progress and return time, as he announced via his Twitter account yesterday.

I would like rich to come back and fight at MW and take back his belt, after silva moves to lhw of course. I still think franklin is the #2 MW in the world.
