Russians have the best overall team in the world. They own American wrestlers, most MMA fans don't know this... Just sharing some knowledge

i love watching Olympic combat sports but its annoying as hell to track em down. Wrestling is also to watch at this level

Ehhh no it's Iran.
Russia does have an awesome team though. And for your information Jordan BUrroughs ran through the Russian and Iranin wrestlers at the worlds on his way to gold. Russia does not own american wrestlers what are you even talking about the US has some amazing wrestlers, mainly Burroughs.

Burroughs is THE MAN and a World Champ HOWEVER, clearly Russia is the best freestyle wrestling country in the World by a long shot. Just looking back since the last Olympics (there are 7 weight classes):
2011
Russia: 2 champs 4 medals (this was a down year for them);
Iran: 2 champs 4 medals;
USA 1 champ 2 medals.
2010
Russia: 4 champs and 7 medals;
Iran 0 champs 2 medals;
USA 0 champs 0 medals;
2009
Russia 4 champs 6 medals;
Iran 0 champs 2 medals;
USA 0 champs 1 medal
Off the top of my head, I think the last time a country other than Russia won the freestyle WC was 2003 when the Republic of Georgia won
We have great wrestling but nowhere near the level of the Caucasus Mountains boys (Chechneya, Dagestan, Ossettia, Georgia, Azerbaijian etc.)

They have definitely won the most worlds but I wouldn't say they 'own' the US on the mats though. The Tahkti Cup has got to be an awesome event. Russia, Iran, US. Bulgaria has some awesome wrestlers. I enjoy seeing western vs easter wrestlers. Cuba vs. Georgia, Canada/Georgia, any of those match ups, I like seeing the two different styles. I am always surprised there isn't more African wrestlers at the international level that are more successful I figure they's be really strong.
