No. The average fan barely knows who Vitor is. He last fought 16 months ago and has never fought at MW in the UFC.
So no.

But the average fan also prefers stand-up fights and this will be a stand-up war.

this is certainly one of MY most anticipated fights un UFC history. However, with how poorly known vitor is and with how shitty anderson has looked in the last while, it's prob not making 10'ers drool.

Normally i would say no, a good fight yes... however.
Regardless of possible injury, if Sonnen could knock the hell out of Silva standing it suddenly changes just how unbeatable Silva's legacy is.
I'm f*cking stoked, PRIDE stoked!

I think the card itself is going to be amazing, and I've been waiting months for it. But Silva vs. Belfort isn't one of the most anticipated fights in UFC history in my opinion.

The problem I have with it is I think both fighters are over-hyped. Both have the ability to be top P4P fighters and both seem to fall into spells of odd dancing fits or underachievement. Thus, to me this fight is... who will take it more seriously.

I don't even know who I'm rooting for, but it is one of my top 10 most anticipated fights ever. How bad would it suck if Vitor missed weight?!

The point is the question i asked. I think this is a great fight between 2 stand-up legends. Its not everyday you see a fight like this.

NO, there isnt much behind this card.....it doesnt feel like Lesnar/Carwin or Lesnar/Cain, or Rampage/Rashad, Wandy/Chuck, Tito/Chuck, GSP/BJ 2, even Royce/Hughes....I can go on and on....this feels nothing like it, I dont even think this fight even feels as anticipated as Chael/Anderson

Yeah, i was more looking towards the anticipated fights for hardcores, but overall it's definitely not a Liddell title fight, a Hughes/Gsp/Penn fight.
And i'll admit that Carwin/Lesnar was the most hyped i've been before a fight.
But Sonnen/Silva was so f*cking cool that i can't help but think we're not getting a Silva vs. Maia/Leites/Cote with this fight, which makes it frickin' sweet.

I think we will finally see the real anderson Silva. I dont know if it will be positive or negative, but I think Vitor is a good enough striker that there will be no game playing. I could be wrong, but I doubt anderson drops his hands and begs vitor to punch him like he did chael. I am definately looking forward to this fight more than any fight in recent memory, I dont know if it is my most anticipated ever, but It is up there.

Yes. No Doubt In My Mind. This is the fight I wanna see more then any other fight except for three fights lol..
JDS/Velasquez, Anderson/GSP and Bones Jones/Anderson...
Besides those three... this is the fight I wanna see!!!!
Been wanting it for the past couple of years. I was always a big Vitor Fan. And you know what? I think you can compare him a little bit to Melvin Guillard, well imo, because seeing Guillard, I always thought: "man this guy could be a champ with some guidance and once he figures some shyt out for himself". Guillard's career has been up and down. But now Melvin's ready. Primed. Guillard's resume is not nearly as good as Vitor's lol but I always thought, Man Vitor has the potential to be a pound for pound champ.
Well, this fight will prove me right or wrong.
Cause he's going up against the pound for pound champ. Vitor has been in their with a lot of top names but has lost most of those fights because he just didn't look like he was in his prime, or as hungry as the other guy. Vitor has wins over two big names, Wanderlie and Rich Franklin. Wanderlie was early in his career, Franklin was his last fight.
Vitor has never been on a 5 fight win streak. He is now. He's focused. He's a Black Belt In BJJ and when he first came that's the type of fighter people thought he was gonna be and then BAM! Fastest hands in MMA. Vitor's time is now. Line em up to get KTFO...Anderson, Okami, Sonnen, Marcquardt, Rashad Evans (I think he's gonna make the move to 185)......
Line em up... :x

Victory not enough for Silva against Belfort
Anderson Silva has revealed he will try to turn on the style despite the potentially lethal nature of his opponent at UFC 126.
On February 5 Silva fights The Phenom Vitor Belfort, a man who is known for his devastating hands, having knocked out his last three opponents. At 33 years of age Belfort has been in the Octagon with the sport's best, including Randy Couture, and he boasts a huge threat to Silva's UFC middleweight championship.
However, that will not stop Silva looking for more than just a victory in Las Vegas, where he bids for an eighth successful title defence. The Brazilian has mixed the kind of brilliance that embarrassed Forrest Griffin with less impressive displays of showmanship like his mocking of Demian Maia in recent bouts, and he insists he is not just coming to fight.
Silva's passion for the sport has been questioned after recent displays against Chael Sonnen and Maia, and the 35-year-old is well aware that critics believe he is beatable following his last-gasp win at UFC 117.
