Final minute of extra time and Scotland have a goal chance. They missed. That could’ve been invaluable in the race for KO stage qualification.
Oh well. At least they showed ‘passion’.

I don't think they had a realistic chance for qualifying even with a goal

If Netherlands beats Tunisia they'll face Morocco in stage of 32, with all the Moroccans living there it would be "hot"

Many Israelis are from Moroccan and Tunisian descent and I don't know the difference either. But their ancestors were all working for the king apparently!
I went to Tunisia as a kid.
Lovely resort. Great deviled eggs at breakfast. They liked beach volleyball. Don’t remember anything else, I was 7 I believe.

The South African/South Korean game was the dagger in Scotland's heart. I checked the fixtures for the 3rd set of matches, it was possible for a few groups to end up with a 3rd place team with 2 points or 3 points and with a massive negative goal diff, but a lot of things had to go right. Now, effectively eliminated.

Lol, I posted it months ago and fifa told them to suck it up

Fifa ignores Iran and Egypt pleas by allowing rainbow flags at ‘Pride Match’
Fifa will not stop fans from bringing rainbow flags into the stadium when Iran face Egypt in the controversial "Pride Match" in Seattle.

The World Cup game at Lumen Field at 4am on Saturday (UK time) coincides with Seattle's annual celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.

Egypt and Iran have both lobbied Fifa demanding they have no association with Seattle's PrideFest, which organisers say regularly attracts more than 200,000 participants.

Mehdi Taj, the president of Iran's football federation (FFIRI), condemned the situation. In Iran, same-sex couples can face the death penalty.

The Football Association in Egypt, where Human Rights Watch says people from LGBTQ+ communities face persecution, said in a statement it had written to Fifa "categorically rejecting any activities related to supporting homosexuality during the match."

While U.S. fans are a bit caught up in the hype, I don't think any realistically plan to win this thing (while, of course, not totally discounting the possibility). But I think at this point anything less than the 8-team quarterfinal will be a bit of a disappointment, especially with the performance so far matched with the very favorable draw of potential opponents in the first two knockout rounds. Anything beyond the quarters would be a massive overachievement, unless one or two of the monster squads get knocked out again and we get another lucky draw.
