When the fighters are swinging punches and throwing kicks what is that sound? Do promotions actually use sound FX to exaggerate the attacks?

That's the fighter exhaling as he throws a strike

Fighters are exhaling when they throw punches or kicks, it helps control breathing, and staying calm.

That's what I've heard but if the mics can pick up something as small as exhaling then how come we don't ever hear the fighters talking when we see them mouthing off to each other(unless the refs by them). Those sound like some pretty strong mics yet sometimes you can barely hear the REF(in comparison to how well I hear the "exhales") when he is yelling "Let go of the cage".
