Following his win over Caol Uno at UFC 99, Spencer Fisher started a new thread on the MMA Underground Forums where he thanked Uno for the fight and complimented his opponent.
Last night Fisher posted a question in the thread.
"Maybe to the WEC, what do you guys think?"
Currently the lightweight division is the only weight class offered by both the UFC and WEC. Both organizations are owned by Zuffa LLC, so it's not unheard of for fighters to transfer from one company to the other. If Fisher were to make the move to the WEC, he would have to be considered an immediate contender for the organization's lightweight title.
The current WEC Lightweight Champion
is Jamie Varner, however he is sidelined with a hand injury suffered in his last defense against Donald Cerrone. Cerrone will meet Ben Henderson at WEC 43 on September 2 to determine an interim champion in the division.

He struggles with dominate wrestlers, and Jamie Varner is just that. Thats not a good matchup for him. I mean WEC has 6 155'ers under contract, they should just move Cerrone and Varner over to UFC and be done with it IMO.

Plus one with Chug, Varner is a real bad matchup for Fisher, good wrestling and KO power.

I agree with Chug. I never understood why someone like Cerrone wasn't in the UFC to start with.

Yea but are the guys in the WEC the same caliber as the ones in the UFC? we dont know maybe Fishers experience against the UFC's LW division made him tougher, and just much better then the ones the WEC has.

:? Spencer Fisher is a very good fighter and if he decides to go to WEC he will get a title shot after one win only.

I'm sorry, but ever since I made the Sherk@145 thread we have had a rash of these kinds of threads.I just thought since he was so short (even for a lightweight) that he could go down and be a dominant fighter once again cause it seems he has lost his mojo a bit.I didn't intend for the entire UFC Lightweight division to be transplanted to the WEC.

No way. Fisher is in no way the same boat as Pulver. Pulver is the same right now as Chuck, & Big Nog. Their skills are diminishing rapidly. Fisher's aren't.

a fight between fisher and razor rob could be a really good stand up war for the wec

Screw 155. Spencer at 145 would be a threat to everyone in the division. His striking is better than Brown/Faber and his TDD and size may be enough to keep it there. Unfortunately the money isn't there for WEC fighters and his sponsorship money is probably better leading in PPVs and main carding Fight Nights.

Spencer cannot make 145.
Also they would have to offer him a pretty nice incentive to jump due to him getting FOTN and KO of the night a few times.
The move to WEC would allow spencer though to get a title shot. Cowboy vs The King. That would be fun.

Could be a good move for Fisher.
I think I'd pick him to win a fight against any LW in the WEC, while he doesn't quite have what it takes to compete for a title in the UFC.
Will definitely make for some good fights.

145 doesn't seem realistic to me either considering he broke in to the UFC at 170 and has a win over Alves at that weight.
I dominated the striking in that bout btw.

Spencer Fisher is far better than anyone at lightweight in the WEC IMO. It would be a huge step down for him. If anything it would be a bad move for him. A couple more wins in the UFC and he should get a title shot. He was so close when he fought Hermes Franca, had he won that fight he would have got his title shot. He's up there with the best lightweights in the world and Varner and Cerrone wouldn't hold a candle to him IMO.
