Its not surprising, Spike did this with the last card on Versus. I would think they are going to do it again this weekend too. The UFC and Spike have been together a long time, its not a shock that the break up will not go well. I think its a shame that the UFC, Spike, and FOX could not come to some kind of deal to air some kind of UFC content. I think when Spike got better ratings during the last card on Versus that could have put the nail in the coffin for them and the UFC.
Either way the airing of old fights on Spike will not out due the card to air on FOX... They have five more Sundays to do commercials for this fight during football, they also have the playoffs in MLB and the World Series. There will be a lot of first time viewers for this fight

Yes but is for the Heavyweight Championship, and if its a quick fight they will show another. During this one hour show I have no doubt that FOX ratings will be at lest 50% higher then Spikes.... My guess is the bench mark for this show is at lest 1.5 million or more, less then that and its a fail....

It will be a hell of a lot more than 50% higher than Spike's, I expect the Fox viewership to be several times larger than Spike. Several million total.

In the short term yes.
But the sad fact is in reality the long-term means that one organization over extends themselves, over-pays and dies.

I think it'll serve more to boost the ratings on Spike more than anything, especially for the newer fans, who won't have seen the fights that get replayed on Spike.

A bit of a political move but a bit silly really. Why would Spike TV want to counter-program old Cain and JDS fights against new UFC fights and a title fight with Cain and JDS?

The problem for Spike is...
1. The event is called UFC on FOX.
2. The UFC has months to tell fans not to watch Spike.
This is all about the UFC keeping Bellator off Spike. They wont buy back their video library.
Spike is going to lose massive amounts of viewers and they know it.

Should be the other way around. UFC should want Bellator to move to Spike, that way their library reverts back to them immediately instead of in 2013.

um... no. 2012 is the year the UFC transitions it's fan base from Spike to FOX/FX/FUEL. Having old UFC's playing on SPike is a way for the UFC to prevent Bellator/SPike from cashing in on their brand.

the brand is UFC. While people flipping thru the channel guide might confuse a UFC replay with a UFC live event (like what happened when Spike countered the UFC on VS card that Nate was supposed to headline). Most of the casual fans dont know what the F a Bellator is. If the UFC can get those rights back without paying for them a year earlier, they should be more than happy about it
