I saw this, and said GTFO!
Love me some Colbert... I hope he doesn't lose his edge with the move.

i read the article and it said Colbert isn't gonna be in character which is funny because i didn't even know he was in character on his show. and i wonder if Jon Stewart was approached.

f--- you Jimmy Fallon.
I was really hoping it would be Colbert and not that unfunny and hideous skank Chelsea Handler.

were they seriously considering Chelsea Handler? i can't even imagine her being a candidate for the job.

Apparently she was in talks for another show at CBS and her name was tossed around for the late show.

I love me some Colbert, but I think he might be too dry for America now-a-days. Hell Letterman is too dry now. If you aren't making non-sensical puns and pratfalls Americans will rarely even laugh. I could only imagine Carson or Jack Benny now. They would never get the time of day. Damn shame subtlely is fast becoming a thing of the past. Some of us older farts still actually remembering getting to stay up late with Carson and that was a treat. Like getting to be an adult for a night. Letterman and Leno to me were always poor impersonations, especially Leno. Letterman had the humor but not the cool, Leno's is, was, and always will be a humorless hack. I wish Colbert good luck, but I don't see him making it past his first contract.

I like Colbert and his show is great, but I'm not sure he fits in with the hour long talk show format at all. Now granted maybe that is exactly why CBS chose him (and while Handler was getting some burn) because maybe CBS is going to mix up the format a bit and go in a different direction.
Jon Stewart has made it clear he isn't leaving the Daily Show. His name is always mentioned when these jobs open up and he never even considers them. He loves the Daily Show and the freedom he has there (I mean he left for 3 months in the middle of "live" shows to direct a movie, he can't do that at a Network).

I never said he did, but he had subtley. He didn't have to point the jokes out for you. Ed McMahon on the other hand was a f---ing moron. No argument there.

I don't necessarily dislike Fallon but he in no way should be the Tonight show host. Unless they want to make it a skit show. Which I am not against. If you want to change it up, change it up, but don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining.

Colbert and Jon Stewart both get almost better ratings on cable tv as the tonight shows get on standard and also Colbert like Fallon does attract the younger audience and also he does have experience interviewing famous people

Dave has been phoning it in for years. I'm glad he's going.
I think Colbert is going to be great, it's going to be weird though, I have gotten used to his alter ego.
I only watch Late night TV sporadically, and am not really loyal to any of them.

...not sure if serious...that's the entire premise of his show.
