With Scott Coker saying in an interview with Ariel Helwani that Strike Force will be going ppv this year ( for at least 1 event), what fights are ppv worthy to Junkie Nation? Post the 5 fights (Garinteed to make the t.v ppv) you would like to see Or that you feel Strike Force needs to make in order to be successful an do good ppv numbers.
My
Strike Force ppv main event card
Alistair Overeem vs Fedor Emelianenko
Dan Henderson Vs King Mo Lawal
Nick Diaz Vs Paul Daley
Bret Rogers vs Big Foot Silva
Tyron Woodly Vs TBA (lol)

hah it wouldn't be a true strikeforce card without good old TBA hah
But i'd buy that for sure!
I would also throw the womens championship on there with Cyborg.

Strikeforce will not do the numbers of even the worst ufc card and i doubt they could do the numbers of the WEC card unless they had a gimic and some how got like mike tyson to fight kimbo slice. There numbers are not that good and at this point, with the money they are paying people, The b.s. they deal with with M-1, and the fact that they only have maybe 10 real stars and maybe 3-4 of them are known by people other then hardcores, by 2012 i could see them being the next company to shut down its offices. I dont want that to happen but when you cant sell more then 8,000 to a 14,000 seat arena, at more then half the price of a UFC card, i see it impossible to stick around. I said it before, they need to spend some good money on a marketing team and get there cards well known to everyone at least 1 month out.

sh*t i'd pay money to watch their heavyweight tournament. they got some damn good fights planned. i just don't think a lot of casual fans would be ready to pay for a strikeforce event.

Since this is fictional. In my world Strikeforce will sign some more firepower for a ppv.
Alistar Overeem vs Fedor
Eddie Alvarez vs Gilbert Melendez
Robbie Lawler vs Hector Lombard
Nick Diaz vs Paul Daley
KJ Noons vs Jamie Varner

Strike Force does not have to compete with the UFC, there not the UFC. An how can you talk about ticket sales when you don't even know if there getting any of the gate revenue. The venue Maybe taking the ticket money, you ever thought of that? You don't have there books an can't see if there making Money or losing it.
Coker is a smart dude. He wouldn't have millions if he wasn't.

I think Strikeforce if they really want to do PPV, they will have to step their game up in many ways they haven't before.
The problem is to do a PPV they need to like freaking brand and market the hell out of it.
Coker has been too lax on promoting their big shows. He said the CBS card could "promote" itself. You can't have that attitude anymore. You have to saturate the market with the word on the card.

Give them some credit, the casual fans aren't
that
oblivious (are they?)...
I think the STRIKEFORCE HW Tournament will be big. The potential Fedor-vs-Overeem in the semifinal round would be a perfect headliner Main Event for a PPV.
Fedor - Overeem
- Heavyweight Championship; Baddest man on the planet, etc
Dan Henderson - King Mo Lawal
- Light Heavyweight Championship*
Nick Diaz - Mayhem Miller
- Bad blood; Welterweight Championship* or Catchweight
Josh Barnett - Sergei Kharitonov
- HW Grand Prix semifinal*; U.S.A. vs Russia
Gina Carano - Shana Olsen
- Gina's Comeback (she'lll be promoting her movie "Haywire"; comes out in April)
Prelim Card - televised for free
Bobby Lashley - Shane del Rosario
- the real HW prospect takes the next step; good lead-up fight for the PPV
Tyron Woodley - Scott Smith
- Up-n-comer vs a dangerous vet (start off with a bang, sorry Smith)
*provided that Hendo beats Cavalcante for the belt, Diaz defends his title vs Cyborg, and Barnett & Sergei advance to the semifinals (a matchup of Arlovski vs Rogers wouldn't be bad either)

Gilbert Melendez - Paul Daley
or
Nate Diaz - Paul Daley
might be good if Diaz-Mayhem doesn't happen.

I don't know...I probably won't buy it, depends on the card. Just doesn't seem like they have the roster for it yet...

Your telling me you can't make 5 super star fights in Strike Force? Come on now. Give me 5 fights you want to see that you think they can sale.

I think they can Lowry. The deal is they are bad at promoting MMA and their fighters. Strikeforce has good fights and some great fighters they just suck at promoting and pushing guys, building stars, and new faces. Look at Lyle Beerbohm who is freaking undefeated yet Strikeforce refuses to put him in fights or really promote him at all. They don't have an opponent for Gil Melendez right now, what about Fancy Pants? He's a good fighter with a great story. He's someone they can promote.
Strikeforce isn't stepping their game up so I don't think they could run a successful PPV card. Coker expects local promoters and fighters to promote the cards and sell the tickets for him. They don't sell out events or fill up the venues like UFC does. They couldn't even get a legit sellout for Fedor/Werdum.

This is a great point. I don't know much of SF's upcoming fighters because I've never seen them and therefore don't really care about them. This is 2011, I shouldn't have to go and do research just to find out about guys (and I live in Canada so I don't get to see a lot of SF events for free). If I haven't heard of them, there's a reallllll good chance no one else has. I also don't think a successful PPV is throwing all of your top known guys into one event (Fedor, Overeem, Hendo, Diaz, King Mo, Mayhem, etc).
I still believe SF's staying power lies in some type of reality show similar to TUF rather than a PPV (production/promotion would be key though...things they seem to lack in) where they can throw in 12-16 guys, have some decent coaches (Mayhem/Diaz comes to mind), and let these guys put on a show. Only then will SF be found in the mainstream market and maybe then we can start talking about successful PPV's.

I think if you're going to do a PPV, Herschel Walker is a MUST!
