Time to tweak that catchphrase "truth, justice and the American way"? Superman is renouncing his U.S. citizenship in DC's new "Action Comics #900."
According to Newsarama.com, in the story, Superman is scolded by a member of the president's security staff for appearing at a protest in Iran, with the notion that Superman's actions reflect the positions of U.S. government as a whole.
"I'm tired of having my actions construed as instruments of U.S. policy," Superman says in a panel featured on comicsalliance.com.
The move was sparking differing reactions.
"Besides being riddled with a blatant lack of patriotism, and respect for our country, Superman's current creators are belittling the United States as a whole. By denouncing his citizenship, Superman becomes an eerie metaphor for the current economic and power status the country holds worldwide," Hollywood publicist and GOP activist Angie Meyer told FOX411's Pop Tarts column.
And from Wired blogger Scott Thill: "Superman has always been bigger than the United States. In an age rife with immigration paranoia, it’s refreshing to see an alien refugee tell the United States that it’s as important to him as any other country on Earth -- which, in turn, is as important to Superman as any other planet in the multiverse."
So, Superman was born on another planet. Maybe it makes sense for him to embrace a more global identity. What do you think?

Superman is just another tool of the elite. In the orogional superman t.v. series every episode started out with the narrator telling the superman story & ending with "fighting for truth, justice & the AMERICAN way". In recient superman shows he only fights for truth & justice, because you can't sell globalism to a bunch of hicks who have their heads clouded with something ugly like patriotism/nationalist pride. It's only logical that superman would disown America & he'll probably start pushing globalist propaganda like "I'm not just an American, I'm a world citizen." in future comics.
No big deal really Superman doesn't even exist, it's only logical that Superman was patriotic in the 30's cuz the masses of a$$es needed to be whipped up into a frenzy over Hitler. Times have changed now & the herd needs to be led in a different direction. Rest assured though, if Wal-Mart or some other fortune 500 companies profits are threatened by another country, patriotism will suddenly become the COOLEST thing since sliced bread.

I'm not trying to be defensive, It's just an observation I've made. It may just be a natural evelution of the American attitude as a whole. People in the 30's listened to "Ricky Recardo" music & these days I prefer Slayer or GWAR. The writers of "superman" have the right to take the story line anywhere they want but, I tend to see "anti Americanism" as a popular fad that doesn't seem to want to die.... as if "something" were guideing it along.
The only time I ever see "patriotism" encouraged is when we've got a country to invade or W.M.D.s to find. I just have a hard time accepting a 14 plus trillion debt happened by "chance" & I'm trying to see the trends that might help piece togeather the truth. I don't claim to know the truth, I just know I won't find it on Fox or CNN.
I also find it funny that teachers often have the bumper sticker "teachers shape the future" but, they're often teaching our children history/government differently than when I was a kid. The school I went to tried very hard to crush individualism but, that could have just been my school. None of it really matters as long as we get to see those "help wanted" signs start popping up everywhare.

I read that one day and then the next day I read that in the US that Obama and his cohorts under his admin want to do away with "Tony the Tiger" and "Captain Crunch" et al, because they are brainwashing the children into zombie-like-creatures for a sugar fix.

Btw, he was found on the side of the road, so obviously his U.S. citizenship was never real because he couldn't produce a birth certificate.
Also - it says that Superman helps those in need. Not just Americans.
One more thing. Superman was created by Jews with a back story reflecting that of Moses from the Bible.
