Tales of Everyday Life

common issue with beginner or novice putter-togetherers. Anything that involves a back-up wrench to keep the thing you're tightening secure while it's being tightened (because it spins or rotates) is bound to be determined as not that necessary. Until you get to the park and discover that the natural rotation of pedaling hath unspun the threading.
I learned how to ride a bike standing up...my dad put it together but forgot the seat screw. It fell off, so sitting down was NOT an option lol.

Have you talked to her about it? Mine were both the same way. They both sort of still are.

And honestly, I made mistakes in both my tone and actual words said that cause(d) more tears that I ever thought possible. But once I talk to them like a rational adult about my meaning, they both understood my point of view and why I said what I said even though it hurt their feelings.

I am guessing that was when they were around 8 or 9 years old. I still do it today occassionally. My oldest is studying for a pretty big thing and she got a crap score on her practice test and my casual "you are not working smart enough if you are not improving" went over like a brick to her head. Tears and sobs. Fuck. Once she took a breath, and i explained that it wasn't a criticism of her personally, but of her actions, it made more sense. Not sure if her behavior will change, but I said my piece and it is on her now.

Sometimes, I think that Dad mentality is always going to cause friction. Men think differently, which is why our species survived. ;)
My daughter got a 4 on a test where 5 was the highest. You only needed a 3 to pass. Her friend got a 5 and my daughter couldn't understand how her friend got a better score. My advice "did you pass? Was this a contest vs. Your friends? Why are you comparing yourself? Comparison is the thief of joy...instead of celebrating that you passed your upset because you didn't get a higher score".

Kind od worked.

Yup, I explained this to her and we two-man'ed it. That thing isn't going anywhere now.

She still did a pretty darn good job... better a pedal falls off than the frame collapses or all the gears unravel :D

(..i am too lazy to see, if you actually did, but you 4 have me fucked so hard, i still dream of buying lube, every night!)

See? Greta's expeditions have done some good!
this shit is so confusing. it's been over 100 here for several days. went to the store to get some ice and people were standing in front of the store with signs that say ICE OUT. So I suppose...thanks for the heads up? but where I'm gonna get ice?

At least they got to reuse their anti-ICE protest signs. How economical and environmentally friendly.

I give my freezer 5 stars on its ability to make ice. 100% of the time I put in water, it comes out frozen. You should consider a freezer purchase.

since Chipotle doesn't have freezers, neither do we.

As an old wise Chinese man once said - less ice, more rice.
