I feel bad for all you Chuck lovers out there but when it's over it's over, Time to move on.

Strikeforce Liddell/Ortiz3 just announced Sept 09
(with Liddell/Babalu3 to follow) J/K
Nah, Chuck needs to hang it up while he's still respected. Still great for the UFC, but its a new era of mma.

Wrong. Chuck's chin is gone, but that has been pretty obvious for a while now. That being said, he still looked great while they were fighting. He looked as good as he has in years. He honestly couldn't have done better, and I was impressed as hell with him.

Liddell vs. Stann on a UFC Fight for the Troops, would be a good entertaining fight.

I don't understand why Liddell stood the fight up when he had dominant position. If he wanted to change his game some GnP would have done that. That's just the inability to change a fighting style once the fight starts.

All of that talk about Chuck changing his style with his new boxing coach was ridiculous because he didn't change his defense at all. Chuck brought his trademark style tonite. He left his lead leg out in front. He DID NOT bring his hands back to protect his chin when he threw jabs. Same looping punches. In the end it was those old habits that cost him. He was caught not protecting himself. Chuck has always fought/ brawled with his hands down and it worked well for him when he was in the peak of his career in his mid thirties, but times have changed. He is a little slower in his step. I think he was slowing down at Tito/Chuck II and that was his turning point for the worse.
Chuck gaves us many good years. WAR Iceman and goodnight.

in my opinion he looked bad not because he got knocked out again but how he got KO'ed a lunging left hook that he should of evaded or blocked but he did neither but hit the mat

That's exactly what I thought. When he scored that take down I figured he was about to display his new ground n' pound. Then he stood up, and it was a WTF? moment.
I do hope this is the end for Chuck. His legacy is sealed and the money is made. What else is there to do?

Please n00b. don't try and tell me what I thought until you have more than a couple posts. I might be the only guy in the JFC who went on record calling this fight for Shogun. I never expected chuck to win.
I'm impressed with chuck because he made it to round two.

I thought Chuck had "evolved his game" and was about to conduct some nasty GnP on Rua. Unfortunately there was no evolution. Chuck shouldnt retire though, he should go to smaller organizations and make more money beating up lower level talent while building smaller promotions. Strikeforce has options for him, or he could pick a smaller promotion to help get on their feet by headlining their fight cards. I'm not sure sticking around the UFC is the best option for him. His place in history is cemented, why not build off of that instead of chopping it down?

Well, how would people feel if Chuck gets KO'ed by a no-name. Its time to hang it up. Hes slower and his chin is gone. Freakin sucks, but its reality.

I feel bad for Chuck. I thought he might actually change his game and come out prepared but obviously you can't teach an old dog new tricks. He looked the same damn way he's always been and actually looked worse than he did with Rashad Evans. After Shogun landed the first right hook, I knew it was over for Chuck because he doesn't keep his damn hands up. I'll always be a fan of The Iceman but he seriously needs to hang em up. Dude punches hard, but that's not going to keep you winning in today's ever evolving MMA sport. I don't want to see him keep losing. The Wanderlei Silva fight will always be the best in history as far as I'm concerned, but that's not enough to keep me wanting to see him step into the Octagon. Time to retire buddy. You'll be missed.

Even if he does retire he'll get "the itch" in two years, and all he will have to do is call dana who's probably on speed dial and just say hey i wanna fight and he'll get another elite fighter.

No offense or anything here, but i think you must have been re-watching the liddel-evans fight when he got knocked out in round two. Because shogun definitely knocked him out in the first round

Chuck's last KO was against Tito... that was some while ago.
Time to bow out, accept the adulation, the Hall of Fame induction, and be remembered as the most popular fighter of the first 15 years of the UFC - chuck helped to get MMA (and the UFC) to where it is today, and for that, I'm grateful.

I'm all smiles brosephs
It's sad that Chuck may be done. It's the end of an era but he had a great run and tonight we witnessed the beginning of a new contender. Someone that sould've been a contender from the beginning. Shogun is back b----.

Chuck didn't make it to Round 2. So, rather than rebutting the guy you quoted, you're giving Chuck credit for something he didn't do. Plus, suggesting that he couldn't have done better???? I can think of many results better than losing by TKO in the first round. Whether you are a Chuck fan in denial or not, your post gives the impression that you are.
Secondly, what relevance is the number of posts a person has made on this site? If someone with 2,000 posts were to say that Chuck looked slow and his chin is gone, would you be more likely to accept it? A handful of people using the forums as a substitute for a personal messenger doesn't guarantee their posts are well thought out, or that they are any more knowledgeable than the "unreal" fans that only participate on topic.
I'm not trying to attack you personally, but you're the second person this week that has posted something along the lines of "I've made way more posts here than you have. Therefore, your point of view is irrelevant and unwelcome. Go post somewhere else and don't come back until you have at least 500 posts on this forum."
